Broadcast Engineer
Iowa Public Radio
Iowa Public Radio (IPR) seeks a knowledgeable and dedicated professional to join our network operations staff as a broadcast engineer. Located in the Cedar Falls office, this individual will maintain broadcast transmission and production equipment in support of the production and distribution of IPR’s programming. Specific duties this individual will complete include installing, testing, and performing preventive or corrective equipment maintenance, assisting in the design, improvement, expansion, and maintenance of production, broadcast, and radio frequency transmitting systems, and responding to inquiries from staff concerning technical operational problems, implementing remedial actions and emergency repairs as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; five years experience in broadcast engineering, including experience in analog audio wiring and systems, TCP/IP networking and IP-based digital audio systems, serial broadcast equipment including servers, switchers, routers, signal processing, and measurement equipment, and experience in radio station recording, storage, and playback on analog and digital equipment systems; knowledge of RF, AM, FM directional and non-directional transmission systems; knowledge of FCC rules and regulations; ability to perform basic to advanced math calculations; ability to read and understand system drawings, signal flows, and schematics; ability to lift 70 pounds and work at various heights, including tower sites; ability to use hand and power tools; and hold a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience; SBE Certification; and proficiency in Microsoft Office 2007.
