Job Description:
AZPM, the award-winning NPR/PBS affiliate in Tucson, Arizona, has an opening for a part time Radio/TV Announcers on their news and classical radio stations KUAZ and KUAT-FM. The successful candidate will host syndicated and local news and information programming and/or music programming during an assigned shift, with occasional other duties as assigned. If selected, you would join a dedicated team committed to bringing quality programming with integrity to Southern Arizona.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cue and start recorded materials; maintain proper volume levels and monitor off-air transmissions to ascertain quality of sound reproduction.
- Operate broadcast control room equipment including microphones, sound mixers, audio recorders/reproducers, audio editing software, and monitors.
- Research, develop, write, and produce content for broadcast.
- Review program log for assigned program periods and secure appropriate recordings and written
materials for public informational announcements, promotional announcements, funding acknowledgments, and other programmatic material. - Introduce and announce various acquired programs and provide additional comments and information to the listening audience. May occasionally serve as a substitute host during another announcer's regularly scheduled air shift.
- Record and edit content for broadcast.
- Participate in on-air membership campaigns by requesting listeners to send contributions to support the radio station.
- Maintain awareness of and monitor transmitter performance parameters.
- Research and prepare interview questions, and conduct interviews.
- Represent the station occasionally at community and public events and may serve as master of ceremonies at events.
- Monitor EAS equipment and respond to announcements and events as prescribed in Emergency Alert System requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated oral and written communications skills and an understanding of public radio and radio broadcasting.
- Knowledge of current local, national, and international events.
- Knowledge of classical music.
- Strong on-air presence compatible with NPR aesthetics.
- Skill at using a friendly and conversational style on-air.
- Skill in operating electronic broadcasting control and production systems.
- Skill in speaking clearly, diction, and voice modulation.
- Skill in pronouncing foreign names and places and non-English language words.
- Skill in voice recording and audio editing.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including good listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure and in tight deadline situations.
- Performs well in ad lib speaking situations such as live interviews, on-air fundraising shifts, and public event appearances.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience
required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Federal Communications Commission regulations and rules governing broadcast operations of radio stations.
