Join the team at Blue Ridge Public Radio as the Development Associate!  This role supports donors with excellent interpersonal communication, accurate data entry and insightful analysis.

Summary: The Development Associate joins a strong team of professionals that applies a balanced approach to annual and philanthropic giving to advance the goals of the organization. The Development Associate’s role is recognized as foundational and essential for the team and the organization.

We’re looking for a candidate who:

 

  • Discretely manages donor records and files with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Accurately processes pledges and donations, including data entry, reconciliation with the business office, and a stop loss program.
  • Warmly acknowledges donors by preparing major donor thank you letters and implementing premium fulfillment such as MemberCards and Day Sponsorships.
  • Employs data hygiene practices and works with Development Operations Manager to track donor activity and relationships.
  • Provides front-line reception duties for incoming donor calls and walk-ins, while attending to the front desk voicemails, email inbox, and general questions.
  • Oversees the monthly Sustaining Member program by accurately entering new and updated donor information, communicating with donors, and providing reports to management.
  • Assists the Development team in seasonal fundraising campaigns, including pledge drive preparation, donor tracking in real-time, raffles, thank-a-thons, etc.
  • Provides timely thank you call lists and assists in other facets of donor stewardship as needed.
  • Assists department with station events, community events, etc. as needed.
  • Is comfortable with different content management systems. 
  • Is punctual, reliable, and willing to occasionally work weekend and evening hours.

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience using MS Office Software Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Client Relations Management (CRM software).
  • Experience communicating effectively with colleagues, donors, and volunteers.
  • Experience using digital communication tools such as social media and email.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Must possess superlative customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and balancing projects.
  • Proven attention to detail, with demonstrated data entry skills with minimal errors.
  • Experience in collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing complex data, and ability to compile, analyze, and interpret Key Progress Indicator (KPI) data.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical office environment.

Location:

The position is location-based in or near Asheville, NC. Currently, staff members have the option to work two days per week at home and are required to work three days in the office in Asheville.

Compensation and benefits:

Salary range is $45,000-$55,000 per year based on experience. In addition to salary and Worker’s Compensation Insurance, BPR offers a compensation package that includes the following benefits:
