Job Description:

Position is part-time, 25-30 hours per week.  Position duration is April 2024 – September 2025 – possibility for extension as funding permits.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of Director, Ready To Learn Community Engagement, ensures that Ready To Learn (RTL) initiative activities, especially those related to community engagement conducted by local public television stations, are complete and in accordance with CPB policy and federal grant requirements. Reviews project reports, deliverables, and other documents to confirm their accuracy and fidelity to contract obligations and RTL priorities. Supports timely distribution of project materials to key stakeholders as needed. Assists in the planning and implementation of virtual and in-person meetings and conferences of RTL staff, partners, stations, and advisors. Serves as initial point of contact for station inquiries about project tasks. Handles special projects, including gathering and analyzing data; collecting and authenticating information from project reporting; and tracking RTL project workflow and processes.

Compensation (Part-Time Position):                                                                                                                                                                         

This position will pay $26.50 - $36.00/hour for part-time work and if this pay was annualized for full-time work, then it would be equal to approximately $55,000 - $75,000/year.  Exact pay based upon experience, education related to the role, CPB compensation structure and internal equity. Annual pay increases and bonus award based on performance against annual objectives and position responsibilities.

Work Location and Hybrid Work Environment:

CPB is conveniently located in downtown NW DC at 401 Ninth St. NW, Washington, DC, amidst easy access to all Metro lines and ample garage parking. We are a largely local workforce and value employee flexibility, when possible. This is a hybrid work position; with in person workdays at CPB’s office, along with teleworking, as approved by the position’s Department Head.

Specific Duties:

  • Supports the Director, RTL Community Engagement, with reviewing financial reports and other deliverables to ensure accuracy and inclusion of all components required by contract agreements.
  • Monitors submission of select RTL deliverables in CPB’s Grants Management System (GMS) and serves as an initial point of contact for communications with contractors.
  • Supports the Director, Grant Budget and Administration with contract budget monitoring tasks, as appropriate.
  • Maintains up to date contact information for RTL project staff, partners, and contractors in GMS and other relevant tracking systems.
  • Extracts data from RTL deliverables to contribute to comprehensive reports for CPB, PBS, the U.S. Department of Education, and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and schedules meetings with RTL stations and partners, documents action items, and supports planning for larger project events, as needed.
  • Assists in the creation of related RTL written materials, talking points/correspondence, and presentations for internal and external use and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Three years related work experience, preferably in a position related to public media, education, and/or non-profit project management/administration.

  Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization and time management skills, analytical ability, proficiency in business writing and attention to detail.
  • Ability to propose and implement solutions to administrative management issues.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and foster relationships through a professional presence.
  • Experience utilizing MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
