JOB SUMMARY The Development Director (DD) at KSJD and the Sunflower Theatre will spearhead development efforts as KSJD continues to grow. The DD is responsible for all of the revenue streams, which allow KSJD to achieve its mission and maximize its impact in the community. The DD is tasked with planning and organizing fundraising activities, managing the development budget, and assembling professional and volunteer team members to optimize relationships with members, major donors, funders, and the community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ● Develop and secure funding from membership, major giving, and grant funding resources for KSJD and Sunflower Theatre. ● Create and manage an annual and long-term major donor pipeline to reflect current and potential major donors ● Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and grant fundraising ● Process Enterprise Zone contribution forms and submit reports to Region 9 ● Maintain an active vehicle donation program ● Market and promote fundraising and donor engagement, including events, newsletters, social media, and on-air messaging. ● Coordinate with theatre staff and volunteers during pledge drives and other engagement and fundraising events
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES ● Establish budgets for individual and foundation revenue streams and track progress monthly ● Coordinate community outreach events with staff and volunteers ● Administer the Customer Relationship Management database ● Administer the merchant service software and related third-party apps
QUALIFICATIONS ● Ability to build and maintain positive relationships in the community ● Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills ● Proficiency with relational databases ● Ability to work with a wide range of people and personalities ● Demonstrated fundraising history
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience ● Experience in public media is a huge plus ● Three plus years of development experience ● Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment ● Familiarity with Salesforce ● Familiarity with Quickbooks Online ● Familiarity with Mailchimp or other email services
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Compensation: $40,000-$45,000 depending on experience Health reimbursement plan $300 per month Simple IRA match: up to 3% Company-paid vacation, sick, and holiday time WORKPLACE DETAILS The job is located in Cortez, CO in the Four Corners region. The successful candidate will be able to work from home, but will also need to work in the office. A passion for community public media is highly desired. The Four Corners of the Mountain West is where the mountains meet the desert and are home to incredible archaeological sites, exceptional outdoor recreation, and excellent weather.
