Our Senior Reporter will cover education policies and how they affect families and local communities. The Senior Reporter will produce enterprise and investigative reporting, as well as participate in special projects and long-form story-telling. There will also be an emphasis on covering major breaking news developments on the education beat. The ideal candidate should produce work with accuracy, strong writing and have a track record of breaking exclusive stories.
Applicants should also demonstrate diverse sourcing of viewpoints and representation in their reporting. The Senior Reporter is a leader in the newsroom, providing mentoring and coaching for entry-level employees and interns and helping news managers coordinate and execute newsroom initiatives and strategies. Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
Experience covering a beat or specialization
Knowledge of audio editing and production
On-air delivery consistent with NPR broadcast standards
Use of data journalism in story-telling
Fluency in Spanish a plus
