Job Description:

The news editor reports to the assistant news director in the production of compelling, thought-provoking work, building KUER’s brand as a trustworthy voice in Utah and the West.

This news editor position is time-limited through June 30, 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of the final product of local news content in Morning Edition, All Things Considered and online with an emphasis on daily news. The editor works closely with the news director, assistant news director, digital manager and KUER’s hosts and reporters. The editor will also manage shared content from KUER partners like the Mountain West News Bureau, the Utah News Collaborative and the Great Salt Lake Collaborative.

The ideal candidate is a skilled storyteller and audio and digital editor with strong attention to detail. This position requires solid project management skills with the ability to lead and build consensus in a fast-paced environment. The news editor should be a collaborative and capable leader who can work with people across the newsroom in both audio and digital formats, across multiple departments at KUER and with partner newsrooms in Utah, as well as regional and national networks and programs.

This candidate is an excellent communicator with a passion for public radio. This person must always remain firmly rooted in the ethics and standards of public media.

Please note that because this role is time-limited, we will give consideration to remote candidates.
