Internship – Student Reporting Labs

Part time, non-exempt

Spring 2024 (January 8 – April 19)

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Communications and Partnerships

Location: Remote 

Description of Intern Work Responsibilities/Projects:

  • Reporting on digital metrics and supporting the creation monthly report
  • Reviewing, Formatting and Uploading weekly e-mail newsletter communications
  • Researching prospective partners and funders and audience development strategies
  • Collaborating with SRL Staff to brainstorm and support new ideas, projects, and goals
  • Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned             

 Learning Objectives:

  • Skill development: Gain practical experience while acquiring knowledge within the field of communication, journalism, and public broadcasting 
  • Understanding real-world application: Develop a greater understanding about communication strategies and non-profit administration
  • Personal Professional Development: Grow communication skills and learn new systems while working in a in a professional environment to support the development of project-based learning resources 

Specific Skills Required:

  • Excellent organizational, project planning, presentation, and time management skills with careful attention to detail
  • Excellent tech savvy skills: you feel comfortable and are open to using Zoom, Google drive, Slack, AirTable, Outlook, MailChimp, and Canva
  • Demonstrated the ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for journalism, youth engagement, and public broadcasting media
  • An interest in nonprofit communication and/or management
