Job Description:


Create and execute comprehensive marketing and communications plans to support the overall marketing effort of the organization. Serve as a primary spokesperson and be a proactive community ambassador on behalf of the organization. Lead the development and execution of all public relations strategies and internal communications.


The ideal candidate should have demonstrated success in the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan with measurable positive results. The individual should have experience leading a team and depending on timing, may have the opportunity to build out their staff - there are two open positions that report into the Director. In addition, this role will work closely with the organization's marketing agency of record who is engaged to provide support to the marketing and communications department.



We're a growing public media company that owns the Lehigh Valley's Emmy Award-winning PBS television station (PBS39) and the region's only "all day, every day" NPR news radio station in the region. We have announced that we are developing a digital news platform and a key responsibility for this role will be to position this new platform for success while at the same time help grow our audience for both our media stations (TV/Radio) and educational outreach efforts in our community. As a public media organization, we have an obligation to our community to keep the informed, inspired and engaged. We are looking for a passionate and committed marketing director that is aligned with this vision.



  • Marketing lead for the new digital platform, PBS39 and 91.3 WLVR. Responsible for all owned, earned, and paid media execution.
  • Manage staff (2) and freelance resources.
  • Leverage the organization's advertising/marketing agency as a primary source of support.
  • Write, coordinate, and proofread marketing communications content that supports the strategy for web pages, digital, collateral, info sheets, business presentations, membership and event materials and more.
  • Lead and collaborate on the events strategy across the organization working with the development operations team. Attend and represent the organization at public events as part of a proactive community relations plan.
  • Create video properties/promotional materials for digital marketing communications purposes.
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends affecting Lehigh Valley Public Media and make recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.
  • Cultivate a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that supports the organization's values and strategic plan.



  • Strong writers and editors
  • Entrepreneurial, creative, and passionate with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, establish priorities, organize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have working knowledge of graphics applications in Adobe Suite.
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English (not required)



  • At least 7 years of prior marketing and communications experience, preferably in a non-profit and/or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated and measurable success as a marketer having worked on marketing plan and/or campaign development and execution
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work tactfully and effectively with staff, board members, donors, volunteers, and community members.
  • Experience working with an outside agency and staging major events.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or at least 7 years of relevant work experience with progressively more responsible positions.



  • Pay you within a range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually to start with annual merit increase eligibility.
