Job Description:

South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.

This employee will act as a Software Engineer working with the Enterprise Systems team on projects developing and/or modifying computer programs by converting project requirements into code for the Department/Agency. The Software Engineer will develop code to bridge systems with custom ETL programs or leveraging other off the shelf products. Additionally, the employee will perform software tuning, configuration,
maintenance, and troubleshooting. Candidate must be comfortable working on-site or remotely as needed.
Assesses design options, designs technical requirements for application, identifies and analyzes problems, tests and debugs code, troubleshoots applications, maintains installed systems, produces and maintains documentation, and conducts application quality assurance. Assists in the training of co-workers and/or customer in the operations of new and existing systems and related technical concepts.

Troubleshoots and tunes existing programs or IT systems as needed. Also develops, recommends, and documents best practices for development and execution of systems.

Works with departments throughout agency to identify and address reporting needs. Queries data using SQL databases and builds and publishes reports using, but not limited to, Microsoft 365 products.

Makes recommendations to management and co-workers concerning enhancements to application systems and/or IT business processes to improve efficiency within the department and or systems as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software. An Associate's degree or a Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field and 2+ years of experience software engineering. 1-2 years of direct experience working with .Net and MS SQL including solid troubleshooting and application development experience.
