- Job Purpose:
Supervises the operation of multiple TV and FM Radio broadcast transmitters, microwave distribution systems and other tower sites in the assigned
areas of operation. Manages a staff of four engineers that support the assigned region and associated tasks.
Directly manage the Engineers assigned to region. Organize, prioritize, assign, and document various tasks and responsibilities as required to meet operational and maintenance goals. This may include coordinating staff schedules and other resources across regions or departments with other members of management. Ongoing development, assignment, and enforcement of preventive maintenance plan. Documentation of maintenance, support issues, change management and inventory upkeep in the Asset Management System (Zeus). Orders parts, supplies and tools required for transmitters, sites and associated systems as needed and in compliance with agency and state procurement rules.
Ensure operational compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. This will include serving as Chief Operator and assigning a Secondary Operator regarding FCC and FAA standards that apply to broadcast signal and physical site and structures. Prepare periodic reports and documentation for various transmission metrics and maintains records of this data in accordance with agency standards, FCC and FAA. Responsible for structured training plan in coordination with division managers to provide required skills and knowledge to staff. Training plan will include prioritized topics, scheduled training events and on the job training. Document staff participation and proficiency metrics when applicable in coordination with Department Heads. Leads team in development and application of new solutions, procedures and processes.
Maintain accurate system and service documentation for sites, including creation of and updates to any drawings, as-builts, licensing data, guides etc. This will also include maintaining client contact data and ensuring client compliance with applicable regulations. Serve as primary point of contact for region with regard to support needs both planned and emergency, assigning staff as needed and appropriate. Interact with Audience Services, various ETV department representatives, cable and sat providers, and directly with customers when needed to ensure high quality of service to the state. Other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum and Additional Requirements
An Associate degree in electronics and related experience.
