Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated development professional, with a successful track record, to join our Development team. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Deputy Director, Development will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission and fundraising. The Deputy will partner closely with the Managing Director and the development team on department initiatives including driving strategies, and activities to sustain and grow revenues in support of the SFPBS Strategic Plan and annual revenue goals. Responsibilities include managing a comprehensive Miami-based fund and friend-raising effort including but not limited to annual fund, major gifts, special campaigns, and events primarily focused on Miami and Monroe Counties. The role oversees the Division’s Planned Giving and Grants programs. They will develop a VIP Bailey Center Donor Program with a robust calendar of enrichment and lifelong learning events for donors. Collaboration with the Managing Director on departmental strategies is essential to sustain and grow revenues.

This role involves collaborating with the Managing Director to build and maintain relationships with major donors, prospects, foundations, and corporate partners, focusing on securing six- and seven-figure contributions. The individual will manage a portfolio of 100-150 high-capacity donors and lead strategic efforts to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of contributing $100,000 or more annually. Responsibilities include writing effective proposals, facilitating meaningful interactions, and prioritizing endowment growth to ensure sustained financial support.

Key duties include collaborating with the Managing Director on mission-based fundraising strategies; managing, cultivating and stewarding strong, effective relationships with donors, prospects and key stakeholders to achieve and surpass goals; overseeing grant writing, reporting and related relationships; developing and executing successful fundraising campaigns; effectively supervising assigned staff to achieve departmental and company goals; crafting effective proposals; planning and hosting highest quality events; staying informed on trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising; professionally representing the organization at community events and donor meetings while growing revenues and endowment support. The position also involves supervising staff and collaborating with volunteers to meet fundraising goals.

Seeking a college graduate with at least 10 years of proven success as a senior-level major gifts or chief development officer with management experience in development, including major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, and nonprofit management. Preference for candidates with CFRE certification.

Candidate should have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding financial goals, managing development teams, and building lasting relationships with high-net-worth donors. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential, along with experience managing diverse teams and adapting strategies to achieve results.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to effectively engage capable stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferred, along with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism is essential. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, flexibility, strong problem-solving abilities, and a sense of humor to adapt to dynamic situations and foster a collaborative work environment.

Salary is commesurate with experience.
