Job Description:

This role requires the ability to develop and implement membership campaigns, cultivate donor relationships, and manage membership databases effectively. Under the direction of the General Manager, WFIT’s Membership and Volunteer Manager will develop strategies and tactics to increase the number of new members and retain current ones. The position is responsible for planning and executing WFIT’s on air fund drives, direct mail program and digital campaigns. The position is also responsible for managing WFIT’s volunteers who help with fund drives, on-site presence at events and office operations. The position is responsible for maintaining our membership database in conjunction with The Florida Institute of Technology Development Office.

Responsibilities:

Fund Drives:

  • Plans and executes all aspects of WFIT’s fund drives
  • Acquires or writes fund raising scripts
  • Schedules phone and on-air guest volunteers
  • Oversees production and scheduling of recorded spots and other promotional announcements
  • Sets goals and monitors progress
  • Chooses and over sees production and fulfillment of thank you gifts

Sustaining Memberships:

  • Resolves billing issues
  • Creates incentives to increase monthly contributions
  • Creates recognition activities

Direct Mail

  • Creates renewal and acquisition packages
  • Sends Thank You letters
     

Social and Email Marketing

  • Creates emails containing station events, program highlights and other information
  • Works with web team to create digital fundraising activities during fund drives
  • Creates social media content across all platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, and Linked-In.

Car Donation Program

  • Interfaces with car donation service
  • Maintains on-air announcements

Database Management

  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date membership databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Works with University Development Office to create reports

Volunteers

  • Maintain database of volunteers and their areas of interest
  • Schedules volunteers for events including festivals and donor activities
  • Solicits new volunteers including FIT students
  • Work with other team members to create on-site experiences for our members and listeners
  • Set up and break down materials including promotional items, tables, booths and other associated items.

Qualifications

  • Batchelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, business administration or related field
  •  Two years experience in a similar role within public media.
  • Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours during fund drives and station events
  • Experience with CRM databases, Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills able to build rapport with diverse stakeholders

About WFIT:

WFIT 89.5 is a listener supported public radio station licensed to Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida.  The station is an NPR member and provides NPR News programming and contemporary music (AAA) and events to the Space Coast of Florida.  Almost 80% of the station’s schedule is locally programmed and our schedule is rounded out with state-wide and nationally distributed shows like Morning Edition, All Things Considered, The World Café, The Florida Roundup and Florida Frontiers.  WFIT air staff includes paid employees and volunteers who produce programs including Blues with a Twist, The Beach House, FM Odyssey, Mozart’s Attic and others.  A program schedule is available at wfit.org.  WFIT also maintains a HD multicast channel that features 24/7 music.
