Job Description:

WRTI 90.1 FM is seeking a determined and persuasive sales and business development professional to join our sponsorship team. Reporting to the director of philanthropy the Business Development and Client Relationship Manager is responsible for the quality, health, growth and profitability of WRTI’s relationships with its clients,  sponsors, and partners by ensuring that services and solutions are delivered in alignment with client’s objectives and key strategies. Success is measured in client satisfaction, retention, growth, profitability and alignment of sponsor’s to the stations mission and core initiatives.

The business development and client relationship manager in collaboration with the director of philanthropy will develop and implement a unified sponsorship strategy, manage sponsor relationships and campaigns, and regularly asses’ opportunities to grow revenue among existing accounts and prospects.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and service sponsors for local and national content presented by WRTI

  • Develop and manage relationship building strategies and techniques aimed at client acquisitions, retention and growth to achieve revenue goals.

  • Develop and scope new initiatives and projects, draft proposals, conduct presentations, and perform other activities related to selling, servicing, and delivering sponsorship opportunities to clients.

  • Steward sponsor relationships to maximize retention and drive new growth opportunities

  • Work directly with Sponsorship Marketing Manager to design and implement sales and marketing efforts targeted to local and national sponsors. Meet established sales and collections goals.

  • Proactively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build sponsorship strategies that support programmatic and philanthropic goals

  • Provide collaborative support to the Philanthropy team and other units, managing implementation of sponsorship marketing best practices and act as an expert resource to colleagues.

  • Support the development and cultivation of a philanthropic culture at WRTI

  • Address contract fulfillment discrepancies and errors or discrepancies in client invoicing and payments

  • Manage resolution of sponsorship program, process and client issues independently per best practices, station and university policy including, development of make good proposals and escalating major issues for review by the Director of Philanthropy.

  • Use traffic, prospect, and proposal system(s) to enter and track sponsor relationship, status, and orders

  • Draft on-air messaging for sponsors conforming to FCC guidelines

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree; six to eight years related experience with at least five years' experience in sales, corporate promotions and/or marketing.

*Proficient in Microsoft office/G Suite Excellent writing and communication skills.

*Must be goal-oriented, creative, motivated with excellent "client service" related skills and ability.

*Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to operate independently in performance of essential functions

Preferred Skills and Abilities

*Experience in public radio or television would be advantageous 

*Experience in using audience research tools such as products produced by Arbitron, Scarborough, Tapscan and others, and in presenting audience to prospective clients
