WUCF TV & FM are Central Florida's public media stations, licensed to the University of Central Florida.
As the area's only PBS-affiliate and jazz station, we work to serve the 16th largest media market in the country.

The Opportunity:

We're seeking a Community Educational Manager to envision, coordinate, and manage all educational initiatives for WUCF, including WUCF Jazz. The manager will supervise education staff, set strategic goals, and ensure quality assurance across our programs. This role involves building strong partnerships within the education community and working with our Director of Community Impact to secure grants and manage funder reporting. Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnerships and External Relations:

  • Uses forward thinking as the key strategic designer and coordinator of all station education initiatives and events to create educational programs that represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives, ensuring fair access and opportunities for all learners.

  • Forges strategic partnerships at the local, state, and national level, including with schools, districts, colleges, education-related organizations, community nonprofits, other public media stations, and affinity groups (or industry associations).

  • Stays abreast of educational needs, trends, and advocacy at the regional, state, and national levels. Follow current trends such as remote learning, digital content, etc.

  • Prepares and delivers presentations about WUCF education services for interviews, on-air spots and fund drives, and other public speaking opportunities.

 

Program Planning, Coordination, and Implementation:

  • Plans, coordinates, and implements virtual and/or in-person instruction, educator professional development, and engagement activities associated with PK-8 instruction and local WUCF programs.

  • Supervises education marketing and communication for the station website, social media initiatives, e-newsletters, grants, and other communications as they relate to the above-mentioned areas.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of educational initiatives by analyzing data for WUCF education services.

 

Funding and Financial Management:

  • Partners with the Community Impact Team to secure funding from local, state, and national sources for new and ongoing WUCF education initiatives through successful grant writing and other funding opportunities.

  • Prepares and submits required budgets, reports, and other documentation in coordination with other grant-funded projects.

 

Personnel Management and Supervision:

  • Coordinates, executes, and supervises personnel associated with Education activities, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution.

  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

  • Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Other duties as assigned, including participation in station outreach and fundraising events.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of the learning landscape for young audiences, gained through experience in preschool or K-12 education.

  • Proven success collaborating with nonprofit or community-based organizations to achieve shared goals.

  • Familiarity with the operational aspects of grant-funded programs, contributing to effective program delivery and reporting.

 

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518- $72,583. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

 

This position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
