Job Description:
POSITION: Broadcast Maintenance Technician
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Nonexempt
DIVISION: Technology & Operations
REPORTS TO: Chief Engineer
PAY: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience)
DUTIES:
- Work as part of the TOPS Department Maintenance staff on facility repairs, upgrades and installations. Major projects may require overnight availability to meet off-air maintenance demands.
- Assist in the design, building, and documentation of new systems as well as modification of existing systems to meet new requirements.
- Assist on live broadcast remotes and local television productions.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and complete maintenance reports for the purpose of quality control.
- Maintain compliance with all FCC, OSHA, and company rules and regulations.
- Assist with other related engineering duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and have good interpersonal/communications skills.
- Experience with solid state/digital electronics and computerized systems with the ability to troubleshoot electronics equipment to the component level.
- Experience maintaining digital broadcast and production equipment a plus.
- Working knowledge of IT including software and hardware for Broadcast systems.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School plus two years of Technical Training
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid NYS Driver’s License; ability to work unusual hours and
ability to lift 50 lbs.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum one year of television broadcasting equipment
EQUIPMENT SKILLS: Should be familiar with all phases of radio and television
broadcasting equipment
