The Board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes and honors Teresa Safon for her extraordinary service to CPB and the public media system. 

For over 20 years, Teresa has been an integral part of both the Board of Directors’ operations and CPB’s day-to-day mission, providing continuity, institutional knowledge, and trusted counsel to numerous executives and Board members. In every role she has held, she has acted with the highest sense of duty, loyalty, and care in service of the public interest.

As Chief of Staff and Corporate Secretary, Teresa’s sharp understanding of the public media system and CPB’s executive and governance functions strengthened Board effectiveness, ensured rigorous adherence to governance best practices, and supported informed, transparent decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. Her judgment, discretion, and command of complex processes have been essential to CPB’s ability to fulfill its statutory responsibilities. 

Throughout CPB’s periods of growth, change, and unprecedented challenge, Teresa’s steady leadership, professionalism, and deep commitment to CPB’s mission provided stability and confidence to the Board and staff alike. She navigated complex challenges with grace, providing a steady hand and a friendly voice that fostered a culture of collaboration and mutual respect within CPB and its vital partnerships with local stations.
