East Lake

This two-hour documentary film by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon chronicles the story of a housing project in Atlanta, GA, called East Lake Meadows, which was envisioned as a self-sufficient urban village for Atlanta’s low-income residents in the 1970s. Many promises never materialized, leaving its residents to battle the resulting crime and poverty on their own. This project, set for broadcast on PBS in 2019, will include community engagement, online and PBS LearningMedia components.
