10 Public Media Stations Added to the Career-Focused Initiative

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 7, 2025) —American Graduate, a public media initiative supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is launching a new phase in 10 additional public media markets. The initiative, which began more than a decade ago to prevent students from dropping out of high school, has evolved into explaining career paths for students.

CPB Statement on U.S. Department of Education Terminating Ready To Learn Grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 6, 2025) – On May 2, the U.S. Department of Education notified the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) that its 2020-2025 Ready To Learn grant is terminated, effective immediately. CPB then informed PBS and 44 public media stations in 28 states and the District of Columbia that receive Ready To Learn grants to stop work immediately, pausing the program in rural and urban communities throughout the country.

Preschool Series Promotes Early Literacy Skills that Empower Young Audiences to Navigate their World

ARLINGTON, VA (January 22, 2025) – Today PBS KIDS announced PHOEBE & JAY, a new animated series for children ages 3-5. The series is designed to support early literacy skills for preschoolers by showcasing the various kinds of texts they see in their everyday lives—from signs and posters to labels and movie tickets—helping them understand, navigate, and participate in the world around them.

14 Public Media Stations to Scale Up Engagement in Their States

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 30, 2024) -- The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS today announced partnerships with 14 public media stations to extend the impact of Ready To Learn-funded early childhood educational resources across their states. The 18-month contracts will allow the stations to work with partners to expand educator, parent, and caregiver trainings, as well as use digital media resources and hands-on learning activities from PBS KIDS, especially in underserved areas.

PBS Wisconsin Education Team Receives Bobbi English Champion for Children Award 

Honor includes $5,000 for station’s continued early learning efforts 

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (September 12, 2023) – The PBS Wisconsin Education Team, led by Alyssa Tsagong and Jon Miskowski, has been named the winner of the 2023 Bobbi English Champion for Children Award from Sesame Workshop, PBS KIDS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The award, announced today at the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) Conference in Grand Rapids, MI, includes $5,000 from Sesame Workshop to PBS Wisconsin to be used to support early childhood work that benefits children across the state.
