CPB Names Kathy Merritt as Chief Operating Officer and Debra Sanchez as Executive Vice President, Government and External Affairs and Acting Corporate Secretary

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 11, 2025) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has promoted Kathy Merritt to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Debra Sanchez to Executive Vice President, Government and External Affairs and Acting Corporate Secretary.

Merritt will oversee CPB’s Operations, as well as Radio/Journalism, System Strategies, Next Generation Warning System, Community Service Grants, and Television Content departments.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting Names Evan Slavitt Senior Vice President and General Counsel

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 26, 2024) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has named Evan Slavitt as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective March 11. As CPB’s chief legal officer, he will promote and defend the company’s legal interests, monitor compliance with federal and D.C. law, and ensure adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct in CPB’s administration of the federal appropriation for public broadcasting.

CPB Names Faisal Khan Executive Director, Next Generation Warning System

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 22, 2023) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has named Faisal Khan as Executive Director of the Next Generation Warning System, effective immediately. He will lead CPB’s work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in implementing the Next Generation Warning System (NGWS) grant program to create a more resilient and secure public alerting system through our nation’s public media system.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting Names Cheraine Stanford Vice President, TV Content Strategy

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 7, 2022) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has named Cheraine Stanford Vice President, Television Content Strategy, effective June 21. In this position, she will plan, lead, and execute projects and strategic initiatives that advance a mission-focused pipeline of public media content for national distribution across a diverse range of broadcast and digital platforms.
