Jon Stewart Celebrated in 'The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize' Airing Nationally on PBS Stations

Washington, D.C., April 18, 2022 — This summer, Jon Stewart: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize premieres on PBS stations nationwide on June 21, 2022, at 9 p.m. ET (check local listings) and on PBS.org and the PBS Video App. The special will be recorded at a gala performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on April 24, 2022. Stewart is the 23rd recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

CPB, PBS Award Firelight Media $5.5 Million to Diversify Public Media Content

Documentary Lab and other programs to support more filmmakers

NEW YORK, NY (August 10, 2021) – Acclaimed documentary producer Firelight Media has received $5.5 million in funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS to support its Firelight Documentary Lab and two other programs aimed at increasing the diversity of public media content in partnership with local stations and PBS national series.

Patricia Harrison, president and chief executive officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), made the following statement today on the passing of Joanne Rogers.

“The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the entire public media family mourn the loss of a national treasure in Joanne Rogers.

Joanne was married to “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” creator Fred Rogers for more than 50 years and was the face of his legacy after the public television pioneer died in 2003.
