    October 11, 2023 (BOSTON) – FRONTLINE, the PBS investigative documentary series produced at GBH in Boston, has announced the pilot season of "FRONTLINE Short Docs" — a new, streaming original series crafted for young adults.

  • CPB Board of Directors Re-Elects Laura Ross as Chair and Rubydee Calvert as Vice Chair

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 16, 2023) – The Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the steward of the federal government’s investment in public broadcasting, unanimously re-elected Laura G. Ross as chair and Rubydee Calvert as vice chair. They will serve one-year terms.

  • CPB Awards First Next Generation Warning System Grants to Upgrade Technology for Emergency Alerts, Public Safety

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 16, 2023) – Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) and Indian River State College (IRSC) in Fort Pierce, Fla., have been awarded funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to upgrade their equipment to provide enhanced emergency alerting. The grants, totaling approximately $386,000, are the first grants awarded by CPB through the Next Generation Warning System (NGWS) grant program, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

  • CPB Invests $2.25 Million in State Government Coverage

    PHILADELPHIA (September 20, 2023) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is investing $2.25 million to increase and strengthen state government coverage provided by public media station newsrooms. The grants were announced today at the Public Media Content Conference in Philadelphia.

  • PBS Wisconsin Education Team Receives Bobbi English Champion for Children Award 

    GRAND RAPIDS, MI (September 12, 2023) – The PBS Wisconsin Education Team, led by Alyssa Tsagong and Jon Miskowski, has been named the winner of the 2023 Bobbi English Champion for Children Award from Sesame Workshop, PBS KIDS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The award, announced today at the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) Conference in Grand Rapids, MI, includes $5,000 from Sesame Workshop to PBS Wisconsin to be used to support early childhood work that benefits children across the state.  

  • 24 Public Media Journalists Named to Poynter-CPB Fellowship

    ST. PETERSBURG, FL (September 6, 2023) -- The Poynter Institute has announced the 24 journalists named to a fellowship designed to prepare public media leaders for the challenges and opportunities presented by a changing media landscape.

    The 2023-2024 cohort of the Public Media Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative, developed and delivered by The Poynter Institute and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is a nine-month fellowship that starts this month. 

  • PBS KIDS Expands Growing Library of Podcasts this Fall with New Offerings

    ARLINGTON, VA (August 30, 2023) – As podcast popularity soars among kids and families, PBS KIDS continues to deliver free, engaging, and entertaining content for young audiences nationwide. Just in time for the back-to-school season, things will kick off in September with a new original podcast series, JAMMING ON THE JOB, which introduces kids to a variety of interesting jobs while helping them see how their own interests and skills relate to those of the professionals they meet in the series.

  • PBS and WETA Announce Four-Hour Documentary GOSPEL with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Coming February 2024

    WASHINGTON, DC — August 28, 2023 — PBS and WETA today announced GOSPEL, a new four-hour docuseries that explores the rich history of Black spirituality through sermon and song from executive producer, host, and writer Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., premiering in February 2024 on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS App. GOSPEL reunites acclaimed Harvard scholar and documentarian Gates with directors Stacey L.

  • Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival launches Filmmaker Forum October 9-10

    HOT SPRINGS, AR (August 30, 2023) – Now in its 32nd year, the 2023 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), to be held October 6-14, 2023, will launch a Filmmaker Forum to connect filmmakers and industry leaders on October 9-10 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Filmmaker Forum, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), will serve as a major convening of documentary filmmakers and industry leaders from throughout the South/Mid-South and across the U.S.
