    CPB Names Donna Joe as Executive Vice President and General Counsel

    Washington, D.C. (November 12, 2025) — The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced today that Donna Joe has been promoted to Executive Vice President and General Counsel, succeeding Evan Slavitt who joined CPB in 2024 and has accepted a new position with the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law.

  • American Graduate Expands to Prepare More Young People for a Changing Workforce

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 7, 2025) —American Graduate, a public media initiative supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is launching a new phase in 10 additional public media markets. The initiative, which began more than a decade ago to prevent students from dropping out of high school, has evolved into explaining career paths for students.

  • CPB Statement on U.S. Department of Education Terminating Ready To Learn Grant

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 6, 2025) – On May 2, the U.S. Department of Education notified the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) that its 2020-2025 Ready To Learn grant is terminated, effective immediately. CPB then informed PBS and 44 public media stations in 28 states and the District of Columbia that receive Ready To Learn grants to stop work immediately, pausing the program in rural and urban communities throughout the country.

    “CPB is not a federal executive agency subject to the President’s authority. Congress directly authorized and funded CPB to be a private nonprofit corporation wholly independent of the federal government.

  • Introducing the Public Media Executives Selected for 2025 Poynter/CPB Fellowship to Strengthen Editorial Leadership

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 1, 2025) — Poynter is pleased to announce 23 executives from across the nation have been selected for the 2025 Public Media Executive Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative, a six-month fellowship developed by the Poynter Institute and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).

    The fellowship, which began this week, will equip public media leaders with support, tools, and individualized training to help build stronger stations, reflecting the goal shared by CPB and Poynter   to strengthen local journalism.

  • CPB Awards $650,000 Grant to Appalachia and Mid-South Journalism Collaboration

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 1, 2025) -- The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has awarded the latest in a series of grants to prioritize local reporting -- a $649,703 grant to the Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom (AMSN). The journalism collaboration of public radio and television stations, led by Louisville Public Media, was launched last fall to provide relevant, fact-based information to local communities across Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

  • CPB Announces Five New Grants Totaling Up to $9.6 Million to Rural Public Broadcasters to Upgrade Emergency Alerting

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 24, 2025) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced today that it has awarded five grants totaling $9.6 million to statewide public broadcasting networks in Louisiana, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, as well as KUTE (KSUT Tribal Radio) in Colorado.
