  • CPB Statement on House of Representatives Passage of Funding for Public Media

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 29, 2021) — Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), made the following statement today following House passage of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill, which contains funding for public media.

    “We appreciate the House of Representatives' strong support of public media, providing $565 million for CPB's FY 2024 advance appropriation, ensuring that public media remains free and available to every American throughout the country, in rural and urban areas.

  • WFYI Awarded CPB Funding to Continue America Amplified Public Media Initiative

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 19, 2021) – Indianapolis-based WFYI will lead America Amplified 2.0, a public media initiative designed to instill journalism practices that meaningfully address local information needs through active listening and engagement. WFYI will establish a central team to lead and develop community engagement journalism practices at 20 public media stations, especially in parts of the country traditionally underserved by media, including rural areas. The initiative is funded through a $983,451 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

(May 28, 2021) — Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), released the following statement today regarding President Biden’s fiscal year 2022 budget request, which proposes $475 million in FY 2024 for CPB’s advance appropriation; $20 million for the public broadcasting interconnection system and $29.5 million for the Department of Education’s Ready to Learn program in FY 2022.

  • PMJA Editor Corps Gets $45K Boost from CPB

    (May 20, 2021) -- The Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) Editor Corps is accepting new requests for editing help from public media newsrooms through an additional $45,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The program, launched by PMJA last year, provides critical pop-up editing help to public media newsrooms facing significant burdens, including small and rural newsrooms.

  • CPB Announces Distribution Plan for American Rescue Plan Act Funds

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 15, 2021) -- The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) today announced that the CPB Board of Directors unanimously approved a distribution plan for the $175 million of emergency stabilization funds for public media. The funds were included in the American Rescue Plan Act, which was signed into law on March 11, 2021.
