  • CPB Funds $1.3 Million Expansion of Public Radio Music Format for Young Audiences

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 14, 2021) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced grants totaling $1.3 million for three public radio stations to implement the Urban Alternative format to connect with young, multicultural audiences. The grants to Radio Milwaukee, WJSU (Jackson, MS), and Minnesota Public Radio will support transitions to locally customized formats using local and national Hip Hop and R&B. Jacquie Gales Webb, CPB Vice President, Radio, announced the grants today at the virtual Public Radio Program Directors Conference.

  • Stacey Decker Named CPB Senior Vice President, Innovation and System Strategies

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 25, 2021) -- The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has named Stacey Decker as Senior Vice President of Innovation and System Strategies, effective Sept. 13. In this new position, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of a multi-faceted strategy to advance innovation and sustainability of public media through accelerating public media’s digital transformation.

  • CPB Funds Public Media Stations Addressing COVID-19 Misinformation

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 19, 2021) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is awarding a total of $275,000 in emergency grants to 14 public media stations across the country to address COVID-19 misinformation in their communities. The grants – up to $20,000 each – are being awarded to public television and radio stations in areas with low vaccination and high infection rates, or in emerging hotspots for coronavirus infection.

  • PBS Digital Studios Receives $3M Grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to Establish Regional Digital Centers of Innovation

    ARLINGTON, VA (August 10, 2021) – Today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger announced that with a $3 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS Digital Studios will establish three Regional Digital Centers of Innovation to build its digital capacity and create a new pipeline of multi-platform content.

  • CPB, PBS Award Firelight Media $5.5 Million to Diversify Public Media Content

    NEW YORK, NY (August 10, 2021) – Acclaimed documentary producer Firelight Media has received $5.5 million in funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS to support its Firelight Documentary Lab and two other programs aimed at increasing the diversity of public media content in partnership with local stations and PBS national series.

  • CPB Statement on House of Representatives Passage of Funding for Public Media

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 29, 2021) — Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), made the following statement today following House passage of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill, which contains funding for public media.

  • WFYI Awarded CPB Funding to Continue America Amplified Public Media Initiative

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 19, 2021) – Indianapolis-based WFYI will lead America Amplified 2.0, a public media initiative designed to instill journalism practices that meaningfully address local information needs through active listening and engagement. WFYI will establish a central team to lead and develop community engagement journalism practices at 20 public media stations, especially in parts of the country traditionally underserved by media, including rural areas. The initiative is funded through a $983,451 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
