News coverage of UN Secretary General Guterres' use of Article 99 on 12/7/23

I watched the television Newshour coverage of Secretary Guterres' use of Article 99 to bring the matter of humanitarian crisis in Gaza before the United Nations Security Council. The NewsHour failed to provide sufficient context and certainly did not provide all the facts of the story itself. The NewsHour coverage failed to live up to its own standard for accuracy. Invoking Article 99 is the only means by which the Secretary General of the UN can bring attention to, “any matter which, in his opinion, may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security.” This is the first time in 50 years, since the crisis that led to the partitioning of Bangladesh, that Article 99 has been invoked. It's being done for good reason. Why did I not hear the rest of the story on PBS television?
