Job Description:

WYPR 88.1 FM, Baltimore’s NPR radio station, is looking for a Mid-Afternoon Host/Producer. This essential role requires an experienced broadcaster, audio editor and producer capable of working multiple shifts, including weekends and able to fill several roles, from live/fill-in hosting to voice tracking, to audio production. Some duties will be expected on a weekly basis, other duties will be assigned. The individual should be nimble, flexible, eager and enthusiastic about broadcasting, public media, live hosting and creating meaningful audio.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Edits and produces all in-house audio productions heard on WYPR or designated for digital podcasts.
  • Host Daily air shift from Monday through Friday 11am – 3pm.
  • Serves as live on-air fill in host as needed for Morning Addition and All Things Considered. 
  • Adheres to all FCC regulations and WYPR standard operation procedures.
  • Assists with on-air voice tracking as needed (particularly on the weekend and/or overnights)
  • Assists with in house audio production of underwriting, promos etc., as requested.  
  • Engage the audience in a genuine, authentic manner with writing and delivery.
  • Assist with producing live and recorded on-air fundraising.
  • Assists the Program Director and Operations Manager in the scheduling of programs into automation and onto the air.
  • Provides Programming and logistical support with News, Operations, and other teams before during and after special programming, including on-air fundraising.

 Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Identification with the mission and purpose of Your Public Radio.
  • At least 3 years on-air and production experience in radio.
  • Meticulous sense of detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Active communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of staff and activities.
  • Working knowledge of Your Public Radio programming and the services of the network is preferred.
  • Access to a personal vehicle highly desired.
