Salary range: $100,000-$120,000

Location: Seattle - Must live in WA State

Hybrid schedule available with 3 days in office, 2 days remote

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Oversee all accounting and financial reporting for non-profit and for-profit entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate accounting procedures and records for all funds, including Endowment Fund, Quasi-Endowment Fund, Capital Campaign Fund
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipts of revenue, costs, and budgets and actual expenditures 
  • Coordinate all financial and regulatory audit activities 
  • Assist in managing cash and related cash flow forecasting to ensure availability of funds and maximization of income through available resources
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage preparation of project and grant budgets and related reporting 
  • Analyze financial data and prepare internal financial statements in a timely manner to keep management, stakeholders and Board apprised of the organization’s financial status 
  • Coordinate preparation of Forms 990, 990-T and 1120 tax returns
  • Prepare and/or review reports, meeting required deadlines, to external entities, including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Washington State Insurance Commissioner and tax filings with all relevant local, state and federal government agencies
  • Provide financial presentations to Board, Committees and Staff, as needed
  • Manage preparation and reporting of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets
  • Supervise and leverage strengths of the finance team members, help clarify roles and responsibilities, develop team members and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Develop and recommend improvements in accounting policies and procedures   
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, establishing financial, budgeting and administrative systems to support the organization’s operations
  • Communicate effectively with staff throughout the organization, leading the department to promote a positive, supportive and customer oriented environment
  • Work with program leaders and interdepartmental staff to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and also to explore how the finance function can support program operations and to better enhance and integrate interdepartmental functions.
  • Support VP & CFO in engaging the board and committees around financial issues
  • Oversee financial, project and grant accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the applicable period and work with Finance and Budget Manager on reporting as needed.
  • Manage and track investment assets, endowments, and board quasi endowments to assure alignment with investment guidelines and board resolutions
  • Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of the Cascade PBS

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Analytic and communication skills for financial statement interpretation to finance and non-finance team members at all levels
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel and working knowledge of other MS Office products (Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA in Accounting or Business required; CPA or CMA and/or MBA preferred
  • Eight years’ experience in accounting required
  • Three years’ supervisory experience required
  • Thorough working knowledge of non-profit GAAP accounting required; experience with multi-currency accounting, endowments, and grants management preferred
  • Experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis preferred
  • Experience with a complex, multi-level chart of accounts required
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software; experience with Abila MIP preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit and type on a keyboard for long periods of time
  • Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
