The Opportunity

We are actively seeking dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Individual Giving Officer in Wixom, MI, in a hybrid work structure.

The Individual Giving Officer at Detroit PBS and 90.9 WRCJ is responsible for proactively increasing the pipeline of donors and funds from mid-level to major to support the organization’s mission and operations. The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for pipeline development strategies for the Major Giving Team at Detroit PBS/WRCJ. The position will report to the Director of Philanthropic Giving and will work very closely with core team members on the Major Giving Team and Member Services Team. This position is full-time, exempt and benefits eligible.

Essential Functions

Individual Giving Pipeline Management

  • Develop and maintain an ongoing pipeline of Mid Level to Major Donors in coordination with Director Philanthropic Giving.
  • Act as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of qualified individual donors who give at mid-level amounts.
  • Utilizing a defined logic model and qualification process determine members most likely to develop into Major Donors in a 3-6 month horizon.
  • Participate by learning about programming and obtaining needed information from the organization to connect donors to mission.
  • Willingness to utilize multi-model communication to achieve critical touchpoint metrics.
  • Achieve annual fundraising goal and assisting in meeting unit goals.
  • Document and record all activities in CRM.

Research and Reporting

  • Conduct proactive and reactive research to determine the giving capacity of new and existing philanthropic donors and prospects, preparing in-depth profiles and/or reports, as necessary.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new database technologies and practices.
  • Demonstrate a passion for the importance, urgency, exclusivity, and power of public media to improve lives, and a desire to work in a trusted organization that serves the educational, cultural, and informational needs of the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Accomplished fundraiser with a demonstrated ability to present the strategic direction and the importance of the institution to the community.
  • Strong knowledge of the programming and community priorities of Detroit Public Television and 90.9 WRCJ preferred.
  • Excellent research, written, spoken, social media, and presentational skills.
  • Ability to work collegially with others in the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Philanthropy, Business, Communications, or related field of study or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Development including:
    • extensive use of fundraising database software to capture donor information, research donor history/interests, and generate actionable lists; knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
    • 2+ years of experience writing fundraising proposals or grant applications.

Physical Demands

Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to attend station and community events, pledge nights, as well as donor breakfasts, dinners, etc.

Work Environment

Individual is exposed to a remote office setting with computer equipment as well as meeting in 1:1 setting.
