We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Broadcast Systems Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. Responsibilities include, under limited supervision, provide technical assistance; conduct research on technical projects; assist with implementation of large projects; Nebraska Public Media building projects and technical aspects of purchasing documents. Implements and maintains training program; maintains documentation, and database; performs related work as required.   • Provides technical assistance to the Director of Transmissions on all FCC required documents or Director of Maintenance and Chief Engineer Maintenance on the integration of digital equipment with legacy broadcast systems.
  • Conducts research on technical projects. Finds alternative vendors and products for given projects, finds technical specifications on multiple vendor equipment, seeks quotes from various vendors, provides raw data for analysis.
  • Assists in implementation of large projects. Provides pre-installation documentation, helps install equipment, and helps create as-built documents.
  • Assist with Nebraska Public Media building projects. Moves equipment, installs cable and pulls out old cables.
  • Assists with technical aspects of purchasing documents. Helps create bid specifications on high-dollar purchases, elicits bids on low-dollar purchases, and assists with the evaluation of bid responses.
  • Implements and maintains a training program for Maintenance or Transmission personnel.
  • Implements and maintains various database programs for Maintenance Department.
  • Implements and maintains a periodic maintenance program for Transmission systems.
  • Maintain the Transmission or Production technical systems documentation program. Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for Transmission systems and personnel as required.
  • Works in the shop troubleshooting and repairing various electronic equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of: the agencies equipment, systems, goals and objectives; FCC policies, practices, and rules; digital broadcast equipment and systems; IP technology; CAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Filemaker, and alpha; electronic theory; commercial electrical power systems and national electrical code used by the State of Nebraska.
  • Ability to: conduct training; diagnose and solve problems; work as team leader/member; communicate effectively; use computer applications of design CAD, word processing, spreadsheet, and data base; assemble, fabricate, install, trouble shoot, and repair equipment, hardware, software, and systems; operate state of the art test equipment and analyze results; construct/read electronic designs.

Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in electronics and experience in digital TV broadcast, RF systems, IP technology, electronics and design and diagnostic experience.
