The Opportunity

Are you interested in joining one of the leading membership teams in nonprofit media? We’re seeking a dynamic and versatile Digital Fundraising Manager to join our close-knit team!

Working closely with colleagues across departments this role will oversee the creation, execution and analysis of digital campaigns that drive member acquisition and retention utilizing a variety of tools and platforms. 

Supervising a growing team and operating in a rapidly evolving digital world, the right person for this role will be curious, able to prioritize, pro-actively communicate and build rapport with colleagues.

Position Details

Working extensively with the membership, audience engagement, marketing and other digital product and platform teams, this position plays a significant role in creating, implementing and managing digital fundraising campaigns, testing strategies, special projects and new initiatives to build member support from our digital audiences. Leveraging OPB’s CRM, marketing automation, and business intelligence tools, this position works closely with stakeholders to drive audience engagement, optimize fundraising campaigns, report results and help shape and scale future digital fundraising efforts.

The Digital Fundraising Manager is responsible for the execution and continuous refinement of multiple concurrent campaigns and digital fundraising project management processes, working to troubleshoot issues and evaluating contribution and analytics data to determine effectiveness and ROI. 

Responsibilities

30% - Organizational Collaboration and Special Projects

Working with the development operations team, cross-departmental OPB teams, industry groups and external partner organizations (as necessary,) to support collaboration, lend effective expertise, and manage activities that drive and scale digital member acquisition and retention.

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for shared and scalable work that can be applied to other efforts and help amplify OPB’s work and drive fundraising results.
  • Represent the interest of effective membership fundraising when participating with internal project/platform teams and with external vendors and projects.

45% - Implementation and Project Management of Digital Membership Campaigns

Working closely with leadership and colleagues, interpret, systemize, manage, and ensure the implementation and continuous refinement of successful campaigns.

  • Plan, oversee and improve the day-to-day development and deployment of campaigns and their many elements.
  • Own, initiate and execute multiple ongoing campaigns while identifying and surfacing opportunities for growth or concerns.
  • Create, manage and adapt schedules according to evolving needs or sudden market shifts.
  • Act as a liaison, subject matter expert and membership mentor for special projects, developing internal capacity and capabilities.
  • Help team identify and leverage process improvements and systems or solutions that help drive results through effective fundraising. 

25% - Data analysis, Testing, Business Intelligence

Working with leadership, build out and continuously monitor, refine, update and share goal-action orientated reporting. Utilizing a variety of tools and sources, combine and interpret meaningful data to support business intelligence needs, demonstrate areas of opportunity, evaluate effectiveness of fundraising and audience engagement activities, circulate insights and cultivate cross-departmental involvement around vital metrics.

  • Oversee the day-to-day execution and initial analysis of testing results,
  • Aid in ongoing efforts to foster internal curiosity about and understanding of metrics that matter, or questions that could be tested to drive results and build an effective digital membership program.
  • Help maintain and refine a comprehensive overview of current efforts, future testing opportunities and coordinate useful reporting on the results of past efforts, to shape donor journey decisions. 
  • Help identify and ensure the development and tweaking of ongoing improvements to web, email, and other digital fundraising elements, based on potential ROI and other key metrics.

Working Conditions

Most activity takes place during regular office hours and can be done remotely (from Oregon or Washington state) or on site, this includes using a computer and telephone with equipment provided by OPB. Some work will take place off-site during regular work hours. Some work takes place in the early mornings, evenings and weekends during live fundraising events and other activities.

Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):

  • 3 years' (full-time) experience in direct response marketing, membership, or fundraising role or other marketing experience in developing and implementing digital campaigns that drive revenue, acquisition and retention.
  • Able to work closely with leadership and close partners, take ownership of and execute multiple plans, exercise sound judgement and independently seek guidance where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated success creating engaging and results-oriented digital messaging, calls to action, or other compelling assets that drive behavioral and conversion goals. 
  • Successful track record utilizing Salesforce or other CRM or database systems, marketing automation tools, or business insight and analytics suites.
  • Ability to keep multiple concurrent projects on track multi-task, interpret goals, follow guidelines and respond to shifting priorities in a positive, constructive manner. 
  • A curious self-starter with the ability and desire to learn new skills, assume new duties, and identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple stakeholders and varying levels of knowledge/experience and to interface in a cordial, professional and well-informed manner with the public, colleagues and vendors.
  • Utilizing solid organizational skills, multi-task, interpret goals, follow guidelines and responding to shifting priorities in a positive, constructive manner.

Preferred Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):

  • Copy editing skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with experience authoring copy for marketing or development emails, blogs, landing pages, or other response driven digital properties.
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret, communicate, and visualize data to inform future strategies, spur new marketing approaches, surface test ideas, or otherwise identify actionable opportunities.
  • Able to deploy robust project management and system thinking skills.
  • Experience supervising direct reports, delegating projects, cultivating and coaching talent.
  • Familiarity with the Oregon and Southern Washington market.
  • Familiarity with public media and enthusiasm for the mission of OPB. Genuine interest in OPB's public service mission, values and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging objectives.

Additional Information

  • This position reports to the Director, Digital Membership and is benefits eligible
  • The probable hiring range for this exempt position is between $60,000 – $73,300 depending on qualifications.
  • For the safety of our employees, the contractors/vendors we work with, and the public we serve, OPB has a mandatory COVID vaccination policy and all employees are required to show proof of vaccination.
  • This position has access to highly sensitive data and therefore must pass a background check.
