Emergency Backup Transmitter Kits for Public Radio

NPR Distribution/Public Radio Satellite System maintains and ships backup radio transmitter kits when needed to public radio stations whose operations are disrupted by hurricanes, tornadoes or other emergencies. The kits, which include antenna systems and portable studio kits, allow stations to restore their primary broadcast signals on a temporary basis until repairs can be made to damaged or otherwise inoperable transmission infrastructure.
