CPB seeks to make public broadcasting more accessible to the public it serves. To do so CPB maintains a toll-free, 24-hour telephone line (1-800-272-2190), an online contact form, and accepts letters sent directly to CPB.

All comments are available on this website to be viewed by the general public. Each year, by statute, CPB transmits this public link to the White House for its report to Congress. Additionally, comments pertaining to programming are shared with the CPB Board of Directors and relevant public media staff.

So tell me why I should let my tax dollars fund public broadcasting when it is very left leaning in its views and shows? I thought journalism was supposed to be non-biased.....doesn't appear that way

Note from CPB: CPB promotes the growth and development of public media in communities throughout the country by providing funding to local public broadcasting stations (both TV and radio). CPB itself produces no programming, but helps support the production of broadcast programs and other services for multiple digital platforms by thousands of producers and production companies throughout the country. CPB, PBS, and NPR are independent of each other and of the local public television and radio stations across the country. CPB neither owns, operates, nor controls broadcast station and is prohibited from interfering with editorial decision at local public broadcasting stations. Your comments will have more weight at your local station.

Streaming for Canadians

Washington
Feedback:

Hi  Our family has been supporting PBS (Local KCTS, Seattle) for at least 35 years.   We currently donate $20 a month to KCTS.   My sons were raised on the excellent quality TV your channel provided.Technology has moved on and streaming has become a very useful and popular method of watching programs.   No panic about missing episodes and catching up to watch a series can be done at the viewers' convenience.   Too bad this is not available to Canadian viewers and supporters of PBS. I have contacted my local station and asked them why this is the case.   I get very defensive and vague answers about "copyright and distribution issues".   I have asked them how many Canadian supporters/contributors they have.   It is a substantial % of their contributing viewers.   I am sure this is true right across Canada.  Yet none of us can stream PBS content.   My question is how can copyright issues apply to programs like Frontline, American Experience and Nova where surely you own the copyright.   Further, very little effort has been made by PBS to explain the situation to Canadian viewers.   There is NOTHING on PBS websites explaining the details nor providing information about what we can do.   For example, we can and do stream "Newshour" over Youtube.  Can we do this with all PBS programs?   Yes/no?   Why some but not others?  We are extremely disappointed in PBS.  Our 35 years loyalty is being tested.  Why should I donate to PBS when we cannot get some basic services and answers AND PBS does not seem to care one bit?   This makes no sense to me. I really would encourage PBS to look at the contributions Canadians make to your revenues and then ask yourself whether you cannot do better - at least by informing us of the problems in an informative, transparent way.   I simply cannot believe that in this day and age PBS cannot stream its own content where ever it wants. Please provide some answers and make some effort to reach out to your Canadian supporters. Thank you. Best regards, Bill Archibald Coquitlam, BC H: 778-355-5075 C: 778-773-0599

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and for your support of KCTS. Although CPB does not produce, broadcast or distribute programming, we welcome all comments about public media content and services. Public media content is widely accessible through broadcast via public television and radio stations across the country. Like CPB, PBS does not produce broadcast programming. PBS also does not own most of programs it distributes to member stations . The programs are owned by their producers, who often continue to monetize them through other distribution deals after they are broadcast. Any rights to broadcast, stream, distribute or archive programs must be negotiated individually with each producer. We have shared your comment with PBS for further response.

The stock market is one of the best rip off ever invented, is has privileged people who trade many stocks in minutes, can make money when stocks go up, when they go down..Your nightly coverage of the stocks just makes me boil. it is a symbol of oppression and for snobs, not for real people

I used to give , but will not.....Why do you ignore JULIAN ASSNge, until you start covering real news, will never send you another dime. sorry, PBS has sold out, it no longer represents any particular value, and is run by ELITE snobs, in my opion

Why not do a show , where those who no longer donate, can espress theri views?? Sorry, i am angry with all of you.

Has CPB discussed content you may be able to put on television for school students if buildings are closed due to coronavirus and students don't have computer and internet in the home?

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). CPB does not produce, distribute or broadcast programming. The CPB broadcasts Amanpour and Company. The program is hosted by Christine Amanpour. If there is a case to be made for incitement to riot charges being brought against Ms. Amanpour, than CPD would be liable would it not. To whom can such a complaint be sent, please.

The News Hour

New Jersey
Feedback:

Just an observation... I think it’s time to replace Judy Woodruff as the anchor of The News Hour. She’s had a nice run, but I believe that the show needs an injection of young blood, particularly now. Young people are becoming much more involved in politics and social matters and I believe that The News Hour should acknowledge the youth movement and, at least, make an attempt to reflect the generational shift that has swept the political landscape. Sadly, Judy Woodruff no longer is representative of that ever expanding youth movement that has only recently come of age.

"Vicious" epidsode

California
Feedback:

Is there any chance that an episode or two of "Vicious" (the entire series was never, I believe, shown here) might be shown here in Los Angeles PBS? I believe only one episode was shown. Would you show it again? It's HILARIOUS! Well written, well acted and well directed. I'd love to see it again. Cordially, Dael Klippenstein (Los Angeles, CA)

PS: Would you, could you have KOCE channel 50 cut out its clanging NOISE between programs? I'm not the only one who feels that it's most irritating--and for no good reason, unless of course, there's some station weird person who likes to do that and can't live without it.

PBS NewsHour

Feedback:

I've been a PBS subscriber and I've supported PBS and watched the NewsHour my entire life. I'm a little disturbed by what I've seen more recently. What I'm seeing could only be called virtual signaling, very extreme left virtue signaling. One of the specifics about that is Black Lives Matter. They basically are falling all over themselves, even with anchors saying, "we support Black Lives Matter." A news organization shouldn't support anyone. While I absolutely agree with the hashtag black lives matter, the organization itself is a very radical left organization. The people funding them are extremist Marxist radicals. You have done nothing to research that and bring that out into the public. The reality is they're a project of a group, you can find this online, that is Thousand Currents. Two of the leaders of that group were a part of the Weather Underground. One had a 56 years jail term for bombings during the 70s, a sentence that was commuted by Bill Clinton. The other had a 16 year sentence for similar activities. The Black Lives Matter organization is a project of this. They are an extreme Marxist group. You are pandering to the extreme left, which I've never seen the NewsHour do before. I'm disgusted by it. I think you've handled the right pretty fairly as far as exposing the extremes on the right. When it comes to the left, you seem to be more and more blinded every single day and your reporting seems to be more and more pandering to extreme right viewpoints. That is something you need to check or else I'll stop watching.

biased reporting

California
Feedback:

I am neither Republican or Democrat and I find it impossible to access objective, unbiased news reporting in the US that has not been given a spin to fit someone's narrative and/or to serve as confirmation bias. PBS has become so biased and preoccupied with their editorials & pandering to minority groups recently that factual news concerning the vast majority of Americans, and the rest of the world goes unreported. PBS has no legitimate right to use public funds to further their partisan agenda and should be forced to operate as a private entity.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. We welcome all comments about public media’s content and services. Thank you for keeping our country informed

New York
Feedback:
Reading through many of these comments, I am appalled. There is almost nothing but complaints over News Hour (regarded as one of the most neutral television programs in existence) or the fact that federal funding is provided for public television. Obviously many people in this country are in dire need of education--and their lack of understanding beyond their own worldview says that loud and clear.

Black and white advertisements

We have supported pbs for years but due to the recent ad whereby someone selected a white female and a black man for your ad we will no longer donate to pbs. We feel it is supporting the black cause which is totally destroying our country because of the heathens that are ruotIng/looting and destroying property. Shame on PBS!

CPB and PBS exist to serve the people without white privilege. If you're serious about your mission, pull the plug on legacy players like Ken Burns and use the funding and airspace they suck up to support programming that actually reflects today's realities.

Judy Woodruff, PBS Newshour

Maryland
Feedback:
Please tell Ms Woodruff that she is doing an especially good job in covering this moment of crisis. Her tone, approach, and professional skill is not only good reporting and editing, it is comforting. The message seems to be: yes, the news is terrible and we are reporting it, but we will get through this together. I want her to know I appreciate her work and what she conveys of her own empathy. Thank you.

Fundraiser Program Content - Dr. Steven Gundry, The Longevity Paradox, as presented on Georgia Public Broadcasting, Atlanta, GA

Georgia
Feedback:

This past week has been pledge week, and one of the special programs on Georgia Public Broadcasting was "The Longevity Paradox with Dr. Steven Gundry." I watched, as a loyal PBS supporter for decades, and I was seduced by his charming presentation, ending up with $180 being donated to PBS to receive his program in 6-8 weeks. Being close to 75 years of age but with some sense left in my head, I then did some research on Dr. Gundry's conclusion and found that he was just the opposite of what is considered scientific and beneficial to the public. Numerous respectable sources consider his research and conclusions slipshod and even dangerous. I have written to Dr. Gundry, and I have requested my PBS contribution be cancelled in full. I want nothing to do with his questionable products or conclusions. I want you to know this so as not to allow him back on any PBS stations in the future for fundraisers. He is not a helpful influence. Please consider my advice. Sincerely, Bruce M. Gregory, Atlanta, GA

No more federal fund8ng for pbs and their brainwashing

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting us with your concern about funding for CPB and the public media organizations it supports. Public media is a public-private partnership in the best tradition of America’s free enterprise system. By law, the majority of the federal funds goes through CPB, a private, nonprofit corporation, to more than 1,500 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations across the country. Each local public broadcasting station makes its own programming choices, as CPB is prohibited from interfering with editorial decisions related to programming on local public television and radio stations. We look forward to working with the Administration and Congress in raising awareness of how the national investment in public broadcasting pays huge dividends in education, public safety and civic leadership to millions of Americans and their families.
