Shields and Brooks on Trump panic avoidance

Washington
Feedback:

Why haven't these people figured out that Donald Trump is a consummate liar? When Donald Trump says he didn't reveal the danger of the COVID-19 disease, because he didn't want the public to panic, he is really lying in an attempt to cover up his need to keep people coming to his rallies and providing the adulation that he needs. Saying he doesn't want the public to panic is about as phony and excuse as one can make, from a person that is fully of phony excuses. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Election 2020 Debate

New York
Feedback:

I am a devoted viewer of PBS. I watch PBS because I learn so much and very much respect Judy Woodruff and other journalists and analysts who work closely with Judy Woodruff. I wanted to see if any assistance could be provided by Judy Woodruff and all involved who critiqued the very disturbing outcome of the debate. Simply asking that the Presidential Debates are handled with more decorum . Chris Wallace represented Fox but it seemed he lost ability to control racial slurs and constant interruptions made by President Trump . As a result, extra time was made for him at Biden’s and the viewers expense. President Trump should have been disqualified . He violated every rule of diplomacy in a debate. Wallace tried to set limits but failed . Perhaps a new rule to Turn individual microphones on for time granted and when time is up , turn it off. If not abided by , he should have lost his turn. At least Vice President Biden did more to explain facts with less time allowed. Once again President Trump got the attention he so desperately needs. To him that is a “Win”. He does not have what it takes to be a responsible or respectable President. Less viewers will want to see more debates after the first one tonight if this is all we can expect. People will not be educated and may not vote. I want everyone to vote, and I want to have hope that there are better days ahead. Respectfully, Barbara Branigan Broderick

Arthur Anti-Racism Episode

August 31, 2020
Feedback:

I am very, very disappointed that you are injecting propaganda into at least one program, Arthur. I thought we were into teaching children about kindness, sharing, relieving some of their anxiety about the dark, and strangers. To teach them that black people are being victimized is just disgusting. I am stopping any kind of money going to PBS, canceling any subscription that I have, and I will not allow my grandchildren that show and will monitor the other shows. It is unnecessary. I don't know if BLM is funding you. You've really crossed the line with this indoctrination, propaganda, and silliness.

What a biased program - the announcer used slippery language to fault the Republicans for refusing to approve the skinny pandemic bill when it was actually the Democrats. Appalling. Can't you hire real journalists?

Captions/translation and music vs talking

New Jersey
Feedback:

To Whom It May Concern, First and foremost on behalf of family and friends I want to thank you for all of the wonderful hours of entertainment you have provided over the years. Especially the British, Canadian and Australian Broadcasting Corps just to name a few, We especially enjoy the coms and the mysteries. Also the many educational and informational programming you air. I am not sure that you can do anything but I feel you know how to spread the word in regards to the matter I am writing you. Didn't know where else to turn. I'm pretty sure that we aren't the first to be annoyed about the two problems I am writing you about. 1) While watching mainly documentaries (Th Alphabet A-Z or something like that is the most recent) when they add captions because they person is speaking another language or their Accent is very thick or their English isn't that well they provide captioning. Overall this is great and wonderful. However, there is two problems with it. First and foremost is a majority of the time the captioning blends in with the background. An example would be using white for the captioning when there is a a light background or vice versa makes it very hard to read. Also the writing is very small. This does cause a significant problem especially for the elder and those with vision problems. If you watch the program I mentioned above you'll understand what I am talking about. We wonder about the editor's, producer's and whoever, is responsible for the finished product. It's as if they either don't watch the final product or they don't care. If you're providing captioning you'd think they would have a contrast so the viewing audience can see what's being said and it could be written a little bigger. 2) The other is why on many occasions do they increase the music especially during dialogues or talks making it harder to hear. Or they just increase it. Again this can be a problem for the elderly and those with hearing problems. Many also don't like the loud noise. As I stated before I didn't know who else to address these issues with. I figured that since you deal with many of these people, groups or organizations you can pass the word to them. I would also appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction of where I can address the issue or get a petition going so that they know that there are many in the viewing audience can also address the issue with them. Hopefully, if enough people complain they can change it so that we the viewing public will really appreciate not only the program but the time and effort they made in making it. Hopefully, this makes sense. Again thank you for the many wonderful years of alternative television viewing. At this time I would like to thank you for your time and attention to this matter. My email address is 32hibernias@gmail.com Respectfully Yours, Joseph W Kirwan

Why do you play bad shows during pledge time? It doesn’t cause me to pledge. In fact, when I see one of these “infomercials” with someone selling the latest diet book or most nutritious eating plan, I just turn the channel. I just want to see the regular shows, or maybe a ballet. Really, are these informercials all you can come up with?

Weekend edition Sunday

Colorado
Feedback:

NPR has taken a serious leftward lurch due to the staff being of the millennial and younger gen x demographic I’m assuming. I used to listen to WHYY in Philly, Radio times, fresh air, ATC until the content became all victim all the time. Moved to Colorado, CPR same stuff different location. WHYY alumnus Joanne Allen came out here too. Today they were pushing a book “the history of whiteness” which I’m sure isn’t flattering to white folks. A promo for an HBO movie, a supposed comic romp about a young girl running away with her friend to get an abortion. Hysterical! The usual “disproportionately affects people of color” inserted in every story when it’s not even relevant. I listen to the puzzle and some rare non leftist political shows, hidden brain and the like. That’s it. Wouldn’t give you a plug nickel hope you get defunded.

NPR - In defense of looting

California
Feedback:

As a listener to This American Life, Snap Judgement and other NPR classics I appreciate the content that CPB offers. However, lately I have started to shy away. The last fundraiser was the first time I did not contribute. A big part of the reason is the normalization of violent idea's towards our political opponents. This article in particular made me realize that NPR is no longer on the correct side. As I have started to leave heavily biased sources behind...I always previously felt NPR was neutral....however, I no longer feel that way. Please stop supporting the unrest, violence and chaos that is ripping this country apart. I simply will NOT be a part of it....and if NPR is a part of it, I will no longer support CPB. Thank you

Nature Cat

Kentucky
Feedback:

At end of program there was a short piece encouraging children to pick up pine cones to use in a variety of different ways. Although that is excellent to suggest, many creatures hide out in pinecones, especially scorpions in the South. This could be very hazardous to young children and you should encourage kids to have parents check the cones out before they smell, paint, and take apart the cones. Thank you

The News Hour

Feedback:

I am a long, long-time lover of the NewsHour. Judy Woodruff may not remember, but we chatted at the Carter 70th Anniversary venue in Annapolis.

I have not mentioned a name in my criticism that with your new woman speaks too fast, barks questions, diminishes the wisdom with which we are accustomed on the program. I bought Gwen Ifill stamps!

I thought she was improving. But this evening's interview with the Harvard representative surrounding the validity of a quickly produced vaccine was just awful. Most elderly persons cannot keep up with the speed of her comments/questions. Imagine someone with English as a foreign language trying to understand her?

I really do protest.

Either school her or send her to another network.

Propaganda

Mississippi
Feedback:

PBS is nothing more than a Propaganda Broadcast System, continually hard left leaning. Trying to twist the true facts of what's happening in this country, one example is, agreeing with looting, burning police cars, blocking off city streets, and shooting anyone who crosses that line. Polluting our kids mind with socialist ideas thru cartoons etc. Continually harping on slavery, which ended over 155 years ago, but bringing it up like it happened yesterday. Continually bashing President Trump, and hailing the left who seriously want to take our 1st &2nd amendment rights away. PBS is not the true educational television it once was. They report the news then have someone to spin it trying to make something out of it that its not. If their going to report the news, report it and leave the commentaries out. I recently cut the cord of dish tv, live way out in the country and my antenna only pickup pbs, and I was shocked at how far left or socialist/ communist PBS has become. They spin everything to the hard left, then try and make it sound true. I' m really disgusted at what PBS is doing. Agreeing with a terrorist group antifa/ BLM? Its just unbeleivable. I mean if the whites in this country are so racist as PBS claims, then how did a black person ever get elected president? Its as if their continually trying to stir up something.

He tied himself to no man, to no party, to no single cause. Baldwin was right to fear that Lloyd George would destroy the Conservative Party, …."
