The Initiative will engage 50 fellows (“Fellows”) in small cohorts, over a timeframe of two years, with a customized curriculum of onsite and virtual training and activities, supported by ongoing mentoring and coaching, to improve the knowledge and expertise of these managers.

Coming Home: Connecting to Community

New multi-platform content, created by local stations with local voices and talent, will celebrate the diversity, culture, traditions, and richness of small-town America, not being told by commercial media.

Urban Alternative Music Format – Phase 2: Station Applications

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is seeking proposals from public radio stations qualified as Community Service Grant recipients that are interested in attracting the Target Audience using the Urban Alternative music format. Earlier research for this project found that a music blend consisting of hip-hop, R&B and dance genres have broad appeal among multicultural audiences, especially millennials and Generation X. CPB has engaged a Consultant to work with stations to formalize the Urban Alternative format as one of public radio’s core music offerings. This request for proposals will identify up to three stations (Pilot Stations) to implement the new format with ongoing assistance from the Consultant.

Urban Alternative Music Format – Phase 2

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is seeking a company or an individual (“Consultant”) to conduct additional research and provide recommendations and coaching to implement a new Urban Alternative music format, provide assistance with community engagement and development at up to three stations (“Pilot Stations”) in markets to be determined by CPB.

Recruiter: Diverse Public Media Journalists

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) seeks an individual or organization to recruit minority candidates to fill editorial leadership and/or reporter positions at public media organizations. The successful applicant (hereinafter “Recruiter”) will present qualified minority candidates to interview for up to 20 journalism positions over the term of one year.
CPB is promoting this program to encourage more diverse management and staff in public media newsrooms across the country. Hiring decisions will be at the sole discretion of the organization and not CPB. Recruiter compensation will be a flat fee for each position for which the Recruiter presents one or more interested and qualified candidates.
