PBS News

Feedback:

This is for the PBS public television. You are destroying America with your news you are putting on with this hatred for Republicans and for Trump. What I just turned on just now was so unbelievable - not allowed to say Trump's name because he is so bad. The nation is tired of it. They are mad with everything that is going on and you are throwing this in your face. There are 80 million people who voted for him. You gotta remember that. Half and Half. Not all Biden. This has to stop. Judy Woodruff is one of the worst news anchors I've seen outside of CNN. I want to hear both sides, not just one hateful side. You hate United States citizens. That's what they are - United States citizens. I'm not a Biden or a Trump, I'm a libertarian. I want whoever is going to work in there. Biden, in his first twenty days, destroyed America. You destroyed 80 million Republicans with your biased news. I will never send money to you again unless you get both sides on this. Every single night you have Judy Woodruff and that other girl who hate Republicans and hate Trump. He's a human being, he's a citizen and he does not need to be treated like this. Nobody needs to be treated like this. You and your public, federal television are destroying the United States of America. You shouldn't be biased. I don't think any money should be going to you. I am so sick and tired of this. You've got to bring the United States together and Biden is not doing it, but your news people can do it if they tell the truth. Quit lying through your teeth.

American Experience

Feedback:

I wish to comment on the American Experience program about the race riot in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921. It was so one-sided. There was no anger from the Black people that you had on there. It was so one-sided. I hope that you will not make any more American Experiences with that one-sided view.

Finding Your Roots

Indiana
Feedback:

If I have to hear Henry Louis Gates ask the question one more time “ how do you feel about that.” I am going to scream. I am tired of the fact that this program always target the ancestors who were slave holders, or who had mixed race roots most probably due to rape, to the exclusion of all other ancestors that could be researched and discussed on the program. This show is not about genealogy but is about the mission of Henry Louis Gates and I am sick and tired of it. As a genealogist, this program has become very tiresome and I may never watch it again. The way you let Gates engineer this show is turning myself and my fellow genealogists off. If tax dollars are being used for this show, then there needs to be a better balance. The show with Pharrell Williams was the worst. Stop playing politics with this show.

Weekly Bias

Feedback:

Every Monday The NewsHour has a political segment with two left-leaning women. You aren't a private entity. Why shouldn't you include participants who are conservative? I don't mean faux conservatives like David Brooks. Perhaps this would grow your viewership by presenting all views? As it is, Monday night is free advertising for Democrats.

Cost of Passport

Connecticut
Feedback:

As a disabled individual with a brain injury I find your policy requiring a minimum $60 yearly donation to qualify for your passport member benefit on PBS Video a burden and impossible to afford. Why not have a donation sliding scale for such matters? The amount i can afford in relation to my severely limited income would equal what your regular folk would pay. As a non profit surely you can relate to my and others’ struggle.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Passport is a service of local public media stations and we have directly forwarded your concern to Connecticut Public Broadcasting.

Conspiracy Theory Reports Are NOT Truthful /Apply Science Model for Theory in Public Broadcasting in News

Virginia
Feedback:

Dear Managers:

I am sending a subsequent letter to continue explaining the importance of the truth in journalism. The following is what I call upon journalists and editors to follow for the model for public news. We need the truth in our daily news and not have the truth subverted in the interest of pop-culture and expediency for framing suspicions, lies, hoaxes and fabricated nonsense as "conspiracy theories," which is a media bandwagon of false headlines for misleading the public. Journalists and editors should be literate enough in science to follow the recommended education expectations for science literacy and be able to reserve the use of theory for science and truth revealing to the public and not follow the fiction writer's model for reporting essential news.

Can you work to strengthen truth in public supported reporting of the news? Can you provide the impetus to influence the editors and journalists to follow the model for theory in science? Here's an excerpt for expected science literacy for the ordinary citizens, and I might add, what we ought to expect from publicly supported news media. Note: journalists ought to be able to frame suspicions and allegations of conspiracy not as theory but as suspicions and unsubstantiated claims of conspiracy as matter of daily activities in their lives as journalists.

"A literate citizen should be able to evaluate the quality of scientific information on the basis of its source and the methods used to generate it. Scientific literacy also implies the capacity to pose and evaluate arguments based on evidence and to apply conclusions from such arguments appropriately." Source -pg. 22 paragraph 3 previous citation & pg. 23 second paragraph: "Scientific literacy implies that a person can identify scientific issues underlying national and local decisions and express positions that are scientifically and technologically informed." Aubrey Neas

Newshour

District Of Columbia
Feedback:

As someone who has been watching the Newshour since the early 1980s, I am dimly tired of listening to Judy Woodruff. She is competent and articulate, but change is needed, especially if the Newshour wants to be attractive to an audience younger than 60somethings. Just hire Lisa Desjardans! She has smarts, youth, and warmth on her side.

Frontline: Trump's American Carnage

February 3, 2021
Feedback:

I happen to be contributing to PBS for a couple of years. I just saw this documentary calling my President Donald J. Trump carnage. If you want to get donors from the 75 million while calling his carnage... How dare you. How dare you allow that. There is documented TV of exactly what this man said. I can't believe how PBS would be a part of this. You see how they twisted that man's words. He did nothing but want to help the American people. If you have a problem with me because I support this great president and the 75 million people, then maybe we shouldn't donate to PBS. You want to talk about misinformation. If PBS is going to start being like the propaganda media, then I'm going to pull my money. This is crazy. Shame on you people. If you want to be along with the other numskulls of America and take it down, then don't accept our money.

PBS NewsHour

January 29, 2021
Feedback:

This has to do with the PBS NewsHour, that you fund with our tax dollars. They have not made one mention of an event that took place one week ago. A representative from Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, submitted House Resolution 57, which calls for the impeachment of President Biden on the basis of his corruption. When you read through the document, there seems to be a lot more standing there than either of the two Trump impeachments. I'm wondering why the trusted PBS NewsHour, which is now showing its liberal bias beyond any stretch of the imagination, has failed to even mention that this event took place a week ago. I watch it every night and I have not heard one mention of this. The PBS NewsHour has shown its liberal bias, especially with Yamiche Alcindor, who is so unbelievably biased against anyone on the right. I'm a centrist and I'm disgusted by both sides, but I'm particularly disgusted by the left right now. They're covering up anything that doesn't go along with their narrative or their agenda. They are even using characters to get the agenda across - the critical race theory and the identity politics. I am now going to work with a group of friends to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Shame on you for your lack of balance or anything that shows any kind of fairness. You are adding to the divide in this country and my tax dollars are not going to fund it.

Objectivity

Feedback:

Enjoy the PBS News Hour. Watch it daily but am concerned that while hateful, incorrect, anti-Semitic troves made by Republican officials are censored the same is not true in regard to the Democrats. Some have called Jews termites, others talked about “following the Benjamin’s”. Is this not equally despicable?

PBS Website should provide national information about Programs Supported by CPB

Feedback:

PBS will not provide information about programs unless the user specifies a local station. but many of us access multiple PBS stations, perhaps because of traveling all around the country. I think that CPB support for programs should require that program information be available to the public without specifying a specific station.

General Observations of Public Television Newshour

Washington
Feedback:
It has been many years since I've used television to obtain my news. I say that because medium too often is more of the message than the message itself. While the organization's founders were really riveted on minimizing the impact of personality or other visual or sensorial influences, it's choice of message-givers made it a construct of the power-elite. Today's news show with Judy Woodruff is a far more message-driven production, that makes great efforts to portray the impacts of world and national news on a broader populace. The selection and prioritization of news pieces also reflects the importance of impact on everyday lives. The lifestyle/arts magazine portions of the show are routinely uplifting and insightful. While I still predominantly obtain my news from written sources, I wanted to convey my appreciation and admiration to you for your current product.

The democrats v the reublicans

Feedback:
You know I don’t even vote because things are so corrupt and one sided that I understand why the democrats are in fear. The non sto lies and efforts to remove him from office has created there own fear. Thy are so self centered and focused on destroying trump they completely ignore the efforts by fbi and there illeagal subpoena and wire taps for something they created this has been on going non sto. What makes them so errogant to think that people aren’t going to turn on them and there constant efforts to destroy this country. It’s probably pretty smart to get him off social media because all he would have to do is make a call to arms nation wide and the dems would be hiding in an crack or whole the can find Again I don’t vote but the capitol was very small in the scope of things cause I along with many many numbers would answer his call they better get a grip before many people get a grip on them. It would be one thing if the did the same with Biden. To where thereefforts where true and honest. But it is so sad and sick If I did what they have done. I would be in fear as well. And I would hope that somebody would stop me in my track and shake the hell out of me befor I did something there was no coming back from I don’t care how much you dislike e him you don’t lie create scenerios that aren’t true to get what you want then when there is real evidence against you that you’ve been caught at many times and your candidate and his son are thief’s and liars and criminals How can you keep going along the same track your on. If you think the capitol was scary just keep it up and see how many people will really answer his calll to arms. I would back the f off

Inspiring Woman nomination - Dr. Wilhelmina Van Dyke

Massachusetts
Feedback:
Dr. Wilhelmina Van Dyke was the first woman at Mass General Hospital....The only female and got through the bias of being a woman with the gaul to do such a thing as be a Doctor. Not only did she kick open doors and ceilings.... she was my Pediatrician! I did not know her story... because I was a kid and thought this was normal. When she passed and her obituary showed her story..... I wish I had known... as an adult... and thank her... and celebrate Dr. Van Dyke for the amazing strong woman and trailblazer that she was!!!! Please look her up..... She was modest etc.... but deserves a shout out and a huge thank you from the woman that stand on her shoulders. Thank you - Holly Kissane
