Feedback:

I am continually struck by the anti Trump bias on the Newshour, especially by Ms. Yamiche. I suggest that ALL complaints be made public. If they were I suspect it would be clear that viewer complaints are being ignored and bias tolerated.

PBS Viewership in Maine

Maine
Feedback:

October 28, 2020

Dear PBS,

How many hundreds of thousands of households in Maine no longer get public television? If you took a poll to determine who is able to watch PBS anymore I think you would be surprised that it truly is in the hundreds of thousands.

Why when WCSH TV channel 6 NBC switched to digital recently and all I had to do was rescan my TV to get it. As for PBS, I haven't been able to view it since you switched to something else impossible to get even on a new smart TV.

Years have gone by with no PBS for probably hundreds of thousands of Mainers. is just unknow or it's swept under the carpet along with the viewership of myself and everyone else in Maine who hasn't viewed PBS for YEARS.

Sincerely,

Randy Hawkins appletonfair22@yahoo.com

They refuse to show comments that are contrary to their views. I have tried repeatedly over many months with no success. I use no improper language. It is scandalous. Someone needs to be fired.

French Laundry Restaurant

Virginia
Feedback:

Shame on you. I felt the discussion with the French Laundry chef was appalling and insensitive to what is occurring today. Parents can’t feed their children, millions are out of work, and many face eviction while this chef feels it important to give people (rich people) an “experience” dining for $1600.00 a couple. I turned it off because it made me sick. If he said at the end he donated $1400 to their local food bank I would have felt better.

The Marching Mothers of the southern Ohio Appalachian Trail

Ohio
Feedback:

I hope in February (Black History Month) 2021 you will sponsor a series on PBS about the Marching Mothers of the Appalachian Trail. These women marched for two years from 1954-56 in an attempt to get their children who was attending the all colored school in Hillsboro, Ohio to be admitted to the all white school in Hillsboro, Ohio. The children had nowhere to go because the all colored school had been set on fire and it burned to the ground. The case ended up in the United States Supreme Court, where the late US Supreme Court Judge Thurgood Marshall ( who did not argue the case) provided legal guidance to the lawyers who argued the case on behalf of the Marching Mothers. This was the first Northern desegregation case in the North and the second desegregation case in the country. I hope to be an consultant on this story and maybe future stories from the Appalachian Trail.

Staff salaries at CPB

Illinois
Feedback:

In the interests of transparency, I was looking through the cpb.org website for staff and officer salaries. It surprised me to find that there is little to no information about what the staff and officers are paid, and since this organization is entirely funded by taxes, it should be somewhat easier to determine how those tax dollars are spent. I see that 5% of total revenues are allocated to administration costs, but further details are lacking. Where can one find this information?

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). As a private nonprofit, CPB is required to file a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). CPB’s Form 990 is publicly available and posted online.

PBS Passport

Feedback:

I'm wondering why the "Cobra" series is censored. The swear words are muted out and it really detracts from the show. All the sudden dialogue dips out. It's really annoying and it shouldn't be. Please stop doing that. It's ridiculous.

Debates

October 8, 2020
Feedback:

I wanted to comment on the debates last night and in general. I find that there is a remarkably limited variety of commentary going on, not a wide range of discussions like I am used to. I used to watch the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour. What I really liked about it is that one got a very wide variety of perspectives on things. There were great discussions and one could always rely on the fact that you were going to learn something new and be enlightened. Even if you didn't necessarily agree with a person's opinion or their take on their subject, you got a different perspective on it. What is different now is that it seems to be all of the same perspectives and it is a shame. Judy Woodruff is the managing editor of the NewsHour and she was a contributor to the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour significantly. She knows very well about the mechanisms of having a varied perspective and point of view is practiced in journalism. I'm very disappointed in Ms. Woodruff and the whole operation. It seems to be very amateurish. You have people who appear to be very biased and it's clear when you listen to them that they hold these partisan views. It's very discouraging and I personally don't wish my tax money to be going to this operation and I intend to make it known.

Funding

Wisconsin
Feedback:

SINCE YOU ARE A TOTALLY COMMITTED ARM OF THE SOCIALIST DEMOCRATIC PARTY, Your funding from My TAX DOLLARS SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY STOPED! LET THE BASTARD DEMOCRATS PAY YOUR BILLS NOT AMERICANS!

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting us with your concern about funding for CPB and the public media organizations it supports. Public media is a public-private partnership in the best tradition of America’s free enterprise system. By law, the majority of the federal funds go through CPB, a private, nonprofit corporation, to more than 1,500 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations across the country. Although CPB does not produce or distribute programming, we welcome all comments about public media’s content and services. Each local public broadcasting station makes its own programming choices, as CPB is prohibited from interfering with editorial decisions related to programming on local public television and radio stations.

WGCU donation - I demand my item or my funds back

Florida
Feedback:

October 18, 2020

Dear Sir or Madam,

This is my second time to donate to my local PBS station and not receive the 'gift' that was promised to me. I realize that I was supporting my local PBS station when I make these donations, but it is irresponsible to promise products that never come. Especially since the item has a special significance to me and my husband. It is a cheap trick to tug at your viewers emotions and not deliver on your promise.

Here is what I sent your local station just this morning, as a second follow up:

Please track down the item that came with my contribution. I really would like to have it. Otherwise, is it possible to get my funds back?

Shields & Brooks

California
Feedback:

I really miss Mark Shields and David Brooks' commentary this year during the debates. I hope you will be bringing them back for election coverage and commentary. I am a (former) long time Republican who could not check the box for Trump in 2016 and will not in 2020 either. The Republican Party as it exists today is not the party of true conservative values: smaller government, compassionate, a hand up rather than a hand out, strength abroad with our allies, fair trade, and support for business. I do not recognize today's party and am disgusted by Trump. He is a fraud and a charlatan. While I never agree with Mark Shields, I respect his opinions and he makes think about other perspectives. I find myself in nearly complete agreement with David Brooks as his struggles with today's Republican/Trumpian values mirror my own. Please bring them both back for the election coverage.

Feedback:

good evening sorry to attach everybody to the email I know that a lot of you guys are busy during the pandemic this email is in regards to yes Barney and friends I did a very video while back on YouTube on Barney am I got about 12,000 views on basically I was explaining why Barney is still good to have around you know I know it’s 2020 and you know Barney  is not really around on television which is bad you know I have nieces and nephew to our 2 3 4 and five and they watch shows such as SpongeBob Sesame Street is good but the message IOf love and just compassion is gone and I feel like Barney actually filled a big gap in there in the 90s and 2000s  I just hope that is a way to re-brand the product and I’ve been reaching out to certain people who would love to have the show back I know that is may take time and even years to try to get to show back to where it was but I feel that the new generation needs to experience love it’s 2020 and as I mentioned you have such things as racism police brutality things going on and I feel with Barney educated that the kids it would be good kids  will be involved the ratings will be skyrocketed like it was before so I definitely feel like it is a good way to rebrand him also all summer long I’ve been giving  multiple Barney DVDs to children hospitals in New York City lots of the kids enjoy Barney the nurses said they were still surprised that the message that he brings the kids still work so I definitely think it’s a good idea but it’s just my opinion hopefully it just gets through to you guys thank you

California
Feedback:
Thanks and deep appreciation to Judy Woodruff and the staff at PBS Newshour for your professionalism: Right on, Yamiche Alcindor for 2019-2020 White House coverage. I agree with my wife who says Yamiche should get extra pay for “hazard duty” covering the liar-in-chief and his lying den of hyenas in the cabinet. Kudos to Lisa Desjardins and William Brangham, stellar work from both! We can see this past year has been extremely difficult to be true journalists and I wish to extend my sincere gratitude for PBS Newshour’s even handed, fact based reporting.

The News Hour

Feedback:

I am a long, long-time lover of the NewsHour. Judy Woodruff may not remember, but we chatted at the Carter 70th Anniversary venue in Annapolis.

I have not mentioned a name in my criticism that with your new woman speaks too fast, barks questions, diminishes the wisdom with which we are accustomed on the program. I bought Gwen Ifill stamps!

I thought she was improving. But this evening's interview with the Harvard representative surrounding the validity of a quickly produced vaccine was just awful. Most elderly persons cannot keep up with the speed of her comments/questions. Imagine someone with English as a foreign language trying to understand her?

I really do protest.

Either school her or send her to another network.

Propaganda

Mississippi
Feedback:

PBS is nothing more than a Propaganda Broadcast System, continually hard left leaning. Trying to twist the true facts of what's happening in this country, one example is, agreeing with looting, burning police cars, blocking off city streets, and shooting anyone who crosses that line. Polluting our kids mind with socialist ideas thru cartoons etc. Continually harping on slavery, which ended over 155 years ago, but bringing it up like it happened yesterday. Continually bashing President Trump, and hailing the left who seriously want to take our 1st &2nd amendment rights away. PBS is not the true educational television it once was. They report the news then have someone to spin it trying to make something out of it that its not. If their going to report the news, report it and leave the commentaries out. I recently cut the cord of dish tv, live way out in the country and my antenna only pickup pbs, and I was shocked at how far left or socialist/ communist PBS has become. They spin everything to the hard left, then try and make it sound true. I' m really disgusted at what PBS is doing. Agreeing with a terrorist group antifa/ BLM? Its just unbeleivable. I mean if the whites in this country are so racist as PBS claims, then how did a black person ever get elected president? Its as if their continually trying to stir up something.

Biased Reporting by Fox. REALLY JUDY WOODRUFF?

Missouri
Feedback:

Really? You chose to do a 10 minute segment on bias by Fox News and let Brian Stelter spin his magical yarn without challenging him on anything? I can't think of a better word than "dufus" when describing Stelter. He is extremely biased and doesn't check his facts. YES - I know you will say to report it to Newshour or my local station, but you need to be aware of the overall programming that you allow. I'd stop funding for NPR and PBS in a minute with the biased reporting they offer.

biased communist propaganda

Tennessee
Feedback:

CPB and all it's many octopus tentacles are an evil, venomous, hateful, mean-spirited propaganda machine for 1917 Red, Marxist Communism. I boil thinking about the lies, hate, dissension you propagate against America, the Constitution, freedom and peace. You are exceedingly clever and twisted how you wear a mask of civility to cover the reality of your genuine intent. For decades you have worked hand in glove with the depraved democrat party, communism, socialism, and practically any mortal enemy of America. Your documentaries portray enemies almost as humanitarians. You rail against conservatism and the American culture and tradition. As in the democrat party and communists you have diligently but determinedly for decades not so much as inaudible sound. Now you think you are one breath away from joining with your partners in crime and treason. You may suceed in bringing about a civil war. However, you will regret it. God and good people will ultimately destroy you. In the process you will be hunted as the dogs and traitors you are. You will not enjoy being hunted and eliminated on sight. Your "news" and that of the MSM is so unreal there is no way it could remotely be accurate. You communists are running a democrat campaign without a candidate; Wag the Dog. Biden is walking dead and the world knows it. Washington Week; how can that be news. It is planned in caverns, in the dark, with bats, and blood on the floor of the American people. Democrats will *** their children and **** their mothers and sisters. Everything is a LIE. Murder, lie, steal, abuse, commit treason.......all for power and control. You have made a fatal mistake of assuming you have control now and are ready to grasp it in your wretched paws. NOT! Antifa is not strong or to be feared. They are children convinced they are players in a redo of 1917. All running on adrenaline and romance. Fools, pawns, cowards; they will die very young and for nothing. You don't need or deserve Federal funding. You now have volunteers, donations from individuals and foundations, federal dollars and now even advertising. You have it all..........and you use it against America. I would as soon see a French type revolution. Round up the communists and enemies, give every last one a trial, remove to a holding pen, shuffle them into the E and B area for disposition. Leaders? Seize ALL assets, take them to a "special" area for slow E and B. Ticket to h*** you filthy, vile, murderous demons. May you burn in h***. Just my opinion, but I am not alone. Washington Week-just a hand picked panel playing out a script. There is no other side or view point. Just a socialist fireside chat, OR propaganda. I am f****** tired of the s*** from enemies like you, MSM, dems., communists, islam, Isis, BLM (self avowed communists), Antifa (the same), Soros, Clinton's, obama's, and the complete cast of murderers. Burn in h***.

I would call accepting money from the people and using it against the people as gross waste. Maybe the IG should hear more complaints about CPB?
