Feedback:

Big fan of NPR. Longtime listener. But can no longer listen to Sunday morning show. Ayesha Rascoe's voice is hard to listen to. Annoying. Thanks.

Biased Programming

Texas
Feedback:

I read your "CANNED RESPONSE" to anyone commenting on your "progressive/ultra liberal" programming bias. Your programming goes out nation wide, trying to lay this bias at the feet of "local stations" is BS. You receive hundreds of millions in taxpayer funds. We deserve balance reporting and programming (opinion shows, like PBS News Hour.) Seems to me you've sidestepped the 1967 Federal Law requiring your annual report verifying the balanced presentations funded by those taxpayer funds.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). By law, CPB is prohibited from producing or broadcasting programming. CPB is also prohibited by law from controlling or influencing the editorial or other content of local public television and radio programs.

Feedback:

Do not donate to you will never again until you change back to a non biased program I believe your total funding should be pulled all you do is repeat lies spread by the legacy media why should you get public funding for one sided lies that are getting exposed daily time for you to go what a shame in the seventies and early eighties you did fairly good go woke go away you are twice as bigoted as the normal people you lie about

Call letter changes, poor reception...., feeling disrespected as a long time supporter of public radio in Cleveland

Ohio
Feedback:

I am extremely disappointed with the recent shuffle of the three stations in north east Ohio (WCPN, WKSU, WCLV). While I understand there might be an expanded listenership outside of Cleveland, public radio reception in Cleveland is substandard at best. Adding insult to injury, the WKSU call letters are a constant reminder of a college owned small city (pop 30,000) station with poor reception and the abandonment of the urban identity of WCPN.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). CPB, PBS, and NPR are independent of each other and of the local public television and radio stations across the country. Each local public broadcasting stations makes their own decisions in regards to programming and CPB is prohibited from interfering in programming decisions. Upstart crow

Feedback:

There are 3 seasons of this spectacularly witty show (Upstart Crow); I believe PBS in Maine has only run one. When can we expect to see the other seasons on channel 10? They're Wittier than any of your other shows..

Suggestions for restructuring PBS

North Carolina
Feedback:

Can more be done to encourage state affiliates of PBS (in my case, PBS North Carolina) to set up news programs that cover state and international news, to make up for shortcomings in the current national news landscape?

Also, can PBS consider the possibility of restructuring to a model similar to that of German public broadcasting association ARD, with regional broadcasters cooperating to form national programming?

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). CPB, PBS, and NPR are independent of each other and of the local public television and radio stations across the country. CPB neither owns, operates, nor controls broadcast stations. Changing Planet program and numerous similar programs

California
Feedback:

On so many of your PBS programs, the background music drowns out the speaking. I know there's pride in the background music that is provided, but too often it simply is a little too loud. Many of us older viewers get disgusted when we can hear what's being said and can't keep up with the closed captions. I would rather hear the speaker, and it would be a problem if you music was toned down some. Darrell Berkheimer, Grass Valley, Calif.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). CPB does not broadcast programming. Please contact your local station or PBS with your concerns at http://www.pbs.org/about/faq/contact-us/.

General news and interviews about current events.

Arkansas
Feedback:

I am to a point where if PBS news and programing goes any farther left, I will have to quit listening. I have already quit donating, because I can not support a news agency that tends to show such biased. It is more and more a liberal mouthpiece, and I can not condone the lack of factual reporting that is being substituted by implicit bias. Get back to Facts, drop left leaning opinions and just report news instead of trying to color it.

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Newshour and Washington Week

Washington
Feedback:

I have just watched Judy W. interview the Czech foreign minister. Once again, the questions were sub par, bordering on ridiculous. For example, "is NATO doing everything it can?" Please, have other correspondents conduct interviews. Judy can remain as long as she does not conduct interviews. I have made this comment before. What is the plan?

PBS Newshour

New York
Feedback:

Regarding Amna Nawaz's reading of the news and her interviewing techniques, it is almost impossible to understand her flat and extremely fast delivery. There is no inflection in her tone with no pause between phrases to allow comprehension of what she just threw at you.

I believe she is very knowledge but her rendition is impossible to listen to her and comprehend. The speed at which she talks with lack of inflection must be addressed or viewers will not be willing to tolerate her.

Judy Woodruff speaks succinctly with intonation and clarity. She is understandable and therefore carries authority. Long may she stay in her position.

One Small Step

Indiana
Feedback:
Dave Isey is spot on with this program, and has just reached the tip of the iceberg. Maybe its is time to up the ante, and move it to the ultimate goal of the Senate and the House, and start sitting down a Republic across from a Democrat, and maybe, just maybe they two can both learn from each other about what can be accomplished in this great nation of ours, if, and only if bills can pass in a bipartisan way, can you just imagine, just a thought, probably more difficult getting them together, but maybe in both are in session, it might just work.

New Fed funding

Congratulations on the funding increase just approved by Congress. Please allocate a substantial portion of that funding to enable local stations to improve local reporting and to broaden NPR's appeal in local markets.

Fundraising and station content

Illinois
Feedback:

I am completely disenchanted with PBS based on the amount of fundraising done and on the content of the shows that are used to inflict this nuisance on the public. Many of these shows (health, retirement schemes, rehashes of shows for which I would rather see the show itself, and very biased and one-sided coverage of topics) make me wonder why I still bother to send in a contribution. I am totally done with this and with seeing anything I would like to just "sit down and watch" go to Passport. I wish someone would burn the tapes of Downton Abbey and many of the other series produced in the last 20 years. There have to be great things in the vault, but one would never know. The broadcast material no longer fulfills its need of providing material for an audience with a wide range of interests and the contant whining, carping, and complaining cannot be helping anyone's mental health.

promos for CPB podcasts and for-profit providers

Michigan
Feedback:

Have I been asleep at the switchor are you increasing the number of fundraisers you incorporate into programming? In any case, I resent it.

I'm a green donor to my local station, WKAR in Lansing pre-empts some of some of my favorite shows, like 60 minutes in favor of ways for you to nag viewers to donate. I'm on a fixed income during a time of high inflation. Now i can't see a 60 minutes episode and for the same reason, you actually interrupt PBS News Hour for the same old, same old tune. I like Finding your Roots, but I don't need a summary of what Henry Louis Gates has already provided and I've seen.

Do you think I have the power to give you some kind of award for providing these documentaries? I don't. And I don't need to hear from Depak Chopra and some guy who does brain research mainly to suck money out of me to buy their products. Maybe it helps you get by,but couldn't you at least be honest about it? Like maybe donations were $100 million to keep reporters all over hte world all the time and donations have fallen to $80 million since COVID, but couldn't you tell us just how bad it is and what you'd have to let go if you don't get the $20 million that you need?

I get it that you can't charge stations like WKAR even more for your programming.

I was listening to NPR before COVID and I've been watching TV more now, but I am NOT willing to go without myself just to watch your programming. There are plenty of podcasts to listen to while I'm doing housework. Please stop this and just let us what your shows.....
