NPR - In defense of looting

California
Feedback:

As a listener to This American Life, Snap Judgement and other NPR classics I appreciate the content that CPB offers. However, lately I have started to shy away. The last fundraiser was the first time I did not contribute. A big part of the reason is the normalization of violent idea's towards our political opponents. This article in particular made me realize that NPR is no longer on the correct side. As I have started to leave heavily biased sources behind...I always previously felt NPR was neutral....however, I no longer feel that way. Please stop supporting the unrest, violence and chaos that is ripping this country apart. I simply will NOT be a part of it....and if NPR is a part of it, I will no longer support CPB. Thank you

Nature Cat

Kentucky
Feedback:

At end of program there was a short piece encouraging children to pick up pine cones to use in a variety of different ways. Although that is excellent to suggest, many creatures hide out in pinecones, especially scorpions in the South. This could be very hazardous to young children and you should encourage kids to have parents check the cones out before they smell, paint, and take apart the cones. Thank you

The News Hour

Feedback:

I am a long, long-time lover of the NewsHour. Judy Woodruff may not remember, but we chatted at the Carter 70th Anniversary venue in Annapolis.

I have not mentioned a name in my criticism that with your new woman speaks too fast, barks questions, diminishes the wisdom with which we are accustomed on the program. I bought Gwen Ifill stamps!

I thought she was improving. But this evening's interview with the Harvard representative surrounding the validity of a quickly produced vaccine was just awful. Most elderly persons cannot keep up with the speed of her comments/questions. Imagine someone with English as a foreign language trying to understand her?

I really do protest.

Either school her or send her to another network.

Propaganda

Mississippi
Feedback:

PBS is nothing more than a Propaganda Broadcast System, continually hard left leaning. Trying to twist the true facts of what's happening in this country, one example is, agreeing with looting, burning police cars, blocking off city streets, and shooting anyone who crosses that line. Polluting our kids mind with socialist ideas thru cartoons etc. Continually harping on slavery, which ended over 155 years ago, but bringing it up like it happened yesterday. Continually bashing President Trump, and hailing the left who seriously want to take our 1st &2nd amendment rights away. PBS is not the true educational television it once was. They report the news then have someone to spin it trying to make something out of it that its not. If their going to report the news, report it and leave the commentaries out. I recently cut the cord of dish tv, live way out in the country and my antenna only pickup pbs, and I was shocked at how far left or socialist/ communist PBS has become. They spin everything to the hard left, then try and make it sound true. I' m really disgusted at what PBS is doing. Agreeing with a terrorist group antifa/ BLM? Its just unbeleivable. I mean if the whites in this country are so racist as PBS claims, then how did a black person ever get elected president? Its as if their continually trying to stir up something.

Biased Reporting by Fox. REALLY JUDY WOODRUFF?

Missouri
Feedback:

Really? You chose to do a 10 minute segment on bias by Fox News and let Brian Stelter spin his magical yarn without challenging him on anything? I can't think of a better word than "dufus" when describing Stelter. He is extremely biased and doesn't check his facts. YES - I know you will say to report it to Newshour or my local station, but you need to be aware of the overall programming that you allow. I'd stop funding for NPR and PBS in a minute with the biased reporting they offer.

biased communist propaganda

Tennessee
Feedback:

CPB and all it's many octopus tentacles are an evil, venomous, hateful, mean-spirited propaganda machine for 1917 Red, Marxist Communism. I boil thinking about the lies, hate, dissension you propagate against America, the Constitution, freedom and peace. You are exceedingly clever and twisted how you wear a mask of civility to cover the reality of your genuine intent. For decades you have worked hand in glove with the depraved democrat party, communism, socialism, and practically any mortal enemy of America. Your documentaries portray enemies almost as humanitarians. You rail against conservatism and the American culture and tradition. As in the democrat party and communists you have diligently but determinedly for decades not so much as inaudible sound. Now you think you are one breath away from joining with your partners in crime and treason. You may suceed in bringing about a civil war. However, you will regret it. God and good people will ultimately destroy you. In the process you will be hunted as the dogs and traitors you are. You will not enjoy being hunted and eliminated on sight. Your "news" and that of the MSM is so unreal there is no way it could remotely be accurate. You communists are running a democrat campaign without a candidate; Wag the Dog. Biden is walking dead and the world knows it. Washington Week; how can that be news. It is planned in caverns, in the dark, with bats, and blood on the floor of the American people. Democrats will *** their children and **** their mothers and sisters. Everything is a LIE. Murder, lie, steal, abuse, commit treason.......all for power and control. You have made a fatal mistake of assuming you have control now and are ready to grasp it in your wretched paws. NOT! Antifa is not strong or to be feared. They are children convinced they are players in a redo of 1917. All running on adrenaline and romance. Fools, pawns, cowards; they will die very young and for nothing. You don't need or deserve Federal funding. You now have volunteers, donations from individuals and foundations, federal dollars and now even advertising. You have it all..........and you use it against America. I would as soon see a French type revolution. Round up the communists and enemies, give every last one a trial, remove to a holding pen, shuffle them into the E and B area for disposition. Leaders? Seize ALL assets, take them to a "special" area for slow E and B. Ticket to h*** you filthy, vile, murderous demons. May you burn in h***. Just my opinion, but I am not alone. Washington Week-just a hand picked panel playing out a script. There is no other side or view point. Just a socialist fireside chat, OR propaganda. I am f****** tired of the s*** from enemies like you, MSM, dems., communists, islam, Isis, BLM (self avowed communists), Antifa (the same), Soros, Clinton's, obama's, and the complete cast of murderers. Burn in h***.

I would call accepting money from the people and using it against the people as gross waste. Maybe the IG should hear more complaints about CPB?

whyy radio programming - liberal - all of it is slanted and biased

New Jersey
Feedback:

npr whyy is not doing a fair job of reporting the news at all. it is liberal and keeps all information on conservative views off the air.i am referring to the radio broadcasts. i have complained alot to whyy radio statoin and nothinog ever changs.it is so violently liberal and so slanted and biased that it definitely needs to be looked at. i dont think taxpayer shoudl be forced to support such a biased, slanted radio program as npr whyy . does it come ouit of boston, a knoiwn liberal state. it continually has a political leader of one stripe discussing a situation with never someone o fthe opposite view to bring clarity to the situation and event. it presents one liberal side continually. this radio station should lose its funding from taxpoayers, becasue it is not presenting both sides of an issue. it is slanted and biased and needs poblic money taken from it entirely. let the liberals support it if they want such a biased radio programming.

Bias

Feedback:

How can you receive government support and be so biased against Republicans? I am a gay man living in San Francisco for over 40 years and even I can see the bias. The Newshour

Feedback:

I have watched (and supported) our local public TV channel (Ch. 9 KQED) here in the SF Bay Area for nearly 50 years. Judy Woodruff has had a long and distinguished career. So it pains me to urge you to see her into retirement. She has lost her edge; her engagement with others is no longer crisp and smart as it should be. She is simply too old to do the job effectively. I am 82 so I think I know a little about age. With all due respect, please encourage her to turn the hosting of the nightly show over to a younger person--and there are a great many of those who appear nightly with her who could succeed in that position--perhaps co-hosting with Hari Shrinivasan? He is outstanding in his hosting of the weekend program. Thank you

CRISPR taken too lightly by NOVA

California
Feedback:

It seems the Ken Burns documentary on CRISPR had a healthy attitude of “approach with caution” , whereas this latest Nova episode has shown the use of CRISPR in a positive “go forward and make the world a better place” kind of light... which causes me great pause and suspicion of certain financial backers of PBS. There should be approval before a CRISPR ethics board prior to release of such materials to the general public. It’s basically an ad or a stamp of approval to use such an entity as Nova to endorse this powerful piece of science to the public. I fear the train has left the station. Shame!

RNC Convention

August 31, 2020
Feedback:

I'm reading your website and under "who you are" there's a list of things that are lettered that say "achieve our goals." Item C says you want to "produce high-quality content, including news and information, that is accurate, fair, balanced, objective." I just really want to know if you believe that. After watching the Republican and Democratic conventions, I was appalled at the prejudice. During the Democratic Conventions, everyone was kissing up to the speakers, saying how wonderful they are, all your pundits and commentators. During the Republican Convention, it was absolutely and totally critical. That can't possibly be fair and balanced reporting. I think it's a disgrace. From now on, when we do something political like that, please keep your commentators out of the action or put in a balance of conservative and liberal commentators. We are totally disgusted with PBS these days.

News Hour

California
Feedback:

I am consistently frustrated by Judy Woodruffs inability to manage interviewees. Just now, in her interview with Jared Kushner, she let him go on and on praising Trump’s efforts on Covid etc and she couldn’t get a word in or rebuttal. This is a very consistent and very troubling failure to keep the news factual and not mis-information or misleading. Its time for stronger leadership on the News Hour. I am a PBS/NPR sustaining member and have been watching the news hour since the 1980s. I increasingly do not like what I’m seeing.

CPB Funding

Nebraska
Feedback:

CPB is the group that should be "defunded". How can you allow NPR & PBS go on and on about being fair & unbiased when they so strongly support the left. News Hour & Washington Week are now just Democrat advocates & Trump bashers. JR Nott Grand Island, NE

Note from CPB: Thank you for contacting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Thank you for contacting us with your concern about funding for CPB and the public media organizations it supports. Public media is a public-private partnership in the best tradition of America’s free enterprise system. By law, the majority of the federal funds goes through CPB, a private, nonprofit corporation, to more than 1,500 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations across the country. While we welcome all comments about public media’s content and services, CPB is prohibited from interfering with editorial decisions related to programming on PBS, NPR, or local public television and radio stations.
